B. Application

1. Assign students to :

a. take an online personality test.

I take online personality tests from the 16Personalities website to know
what personality I have. Thus, my personality test results are shown in figured
indicated below:

I figured out that my personality type is the turbulent advocate (INFJ-T),

which means they are quiet and mystical, yet very inspiring and tireless idealist.
Thus, more likely to question themselves and are ordinarily more sensitive to
stressors. Based on my personality, the traits that I have are introverted, intuitive,
feeling, judging, and turbulent. “Diplomat” is my role, known for empathy,
diplomatic skills, and passionate idealism. It shared the personality traits
intuitive (I) and feelings (F). Based on my research, people with this type of
personality tend to prioritize being kind and generous. Empathy seems to come
naturally to these personalities. These types aim to understand themselves and
others. They often have deep insights into human nature, and they can use these
insights to influence the people around them. In general, diplomats are
motivated by principles rather than practicality. Furthermore, constant
improvement is a strategy that I had. It is the combination of introverted (I) and
turbulent (T) traits. It means that people like me are more sensitive and
introspective. We feel more comfortable on our own than mixed up in the
judgment of the real world, and we enjoy having our own space and freedom.
b. research your “dream job” on O*Net, and
My dream job was a clinical and counseling psychologist.Through this
work help individuals with distress or maladjustment understand their problems
through their knowledge of case history, interviews with patients, and theory.
Provide individual or group counseling services to assist individuals in
achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational
development and adjustment. They are also called a “clinical psychologist,”
“counseling psychologist,” “licensed clinical psychologists,” or “psychologists.”

c. list the personality of most people employed in that job. See Materials below.

The employment data for Clinical, Counseling, and School Psychologists in

year of 2020 estimates of 118,800 employees. Therefore, the projected growth
from 2020 to 2030 are faster than average (10% to 15%). Thus, the projected
job openings are 9,400. However, the personalities that are required in this job
are: concern for others, integrity, dependability, self control, stress tolerance,
and social orientation. In this work, the psychologist at least has the concern
with others to show the patient care in which they wouldn’t feel alone. Instead,
there are people who are with them and understand their difficulties. They also
have integrity. Being truthful and honest is one of the most important qualities
that a psychologist should have in order to treat patients and not be afraid to
express their feelings. The significance of this is to increase their clients' trust in
them because it is a great benefit to their progress. Dependability is important
for someone in this job because, nowadays, it is difficult to find someone to
trust when we have problems. Furthermore, they are more easily approached by
people in need of sympathy and support for the problem they are dealing with.
Psychologists also need self-control personalities to manage emotions, feelings,
and thoughts and to regulate a person’s behavior to achieve specific goals.
People with the personality trait of stress tolerance are always calm and control
their feelings without getting carried away by strong emotions of helplessness
and hopelessness, which shows their clientele that they also need to be strong.
Being socially oriented is one of the best ways to have a person with this type of
work because they are aware of what is happening in their environment. They
are not judged based on the status of a person. Instead, they appreciate people
doing something that will bring good to themselves.

2. Based on the results of the personality test and the job characteristics, write an
analysis of your “fit” with the job.

The role of a clinical and counseling psychologist is to asses, diagnose, and

give treatment for mental and emotional illness to every individual through
observation, interviews, and psychological tests. So, in order to become a good
psychologist, there are some characteristics that are required to be considered in
the field of social science. However, based on my personality test, there are
some characteristics that fit me as a psychologist pursuer. The specific traits that
I have are that I prefer being good to others and prioritizing others, especially
the people in need, and I keep myself thinking of what ways I could contribute
to that work. Furthermore, as advocates, we tend to approach life with deep
thought and imagination. Our inner vision, personal values, and a quiet,
principled version of humanism guide us in all things. We value deep, authentic
relationships with others and tend to take great care of other people’s feelings.

3. Answer the following questions:

a. Were the results of the personality test an accurate description of you?

Being intuitive, feeling, introverted, diplomat, and constant improvement. I

prefer myself as an introverted and sensitive person because I enjoy being alone
most of the time. I don’t like crowds. Instead, I love quiet places because I feel
like I am more comfortable in those places. It brings peace of mind and a
positive way of thinking. I also used to be a diplomat’s person. I cared about
helping and connecting with others. I have always been generous to them as
long as they are also good to me.

b. Was there a match between your personality traits and the dream job?

Based on my personality test result, there is a role and strategy that defines
my personality traits. These traits matched some personality qualifications
indicated in my dream job, such as concern for others, dependability, and as an
advocate person, a deep sense of idealism and integrity can make us good
psychologists.

c. How would you react if you were told you could not pursue your dream
because of the results of the personality test?

It is not important if our personality couldn’t match on the dreams we want

to be. Instead, the most important aspect is what we can bring to the field. Thus,
everything we wanted to pursue would happen at the right time as long as we
wanted it and we wanted to help helpless people. Moreover, maybe staying in
this field helps us improve our social skills and become a better version of
ourselves.

d. How should personality tests be used?

A personality test is used to determine what a person’s personality will be

like. Through the test, we see how we interact with other people and how we
deal with things in our surroundings.

e. Should a single test determine a persons future?

I think it isn’t because all of us will take different tests. A part of this is the
test of life. There are challenges that come into our lives to give us lessons.
Thus, it tests our emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual strength. Through
this test, it’ll bring great changes for everyone. Meanwhile, the purpose of that
is to bring knowledge and learning to everyone from the past to the future, and
it can cause us to grow and mature.

f. What does the APA Ethics Code have to say about personality testing?

Online personality testing should help individuals broaden their knowledge

of their personality. There are websites that can be used for personality testing.
However, we couldn’t be sure that the information gives us accurate and useful
learning as long as it is approved by the professionals, such as the APA ethics
code, to ensure the originality and usefulness of the information that it brings to
people.
