An enrichment activity that is prepared by the researchers according to the result and findings of the

survey questionnaire is provided to extended learning opportunities and challenges to students who
have already mastered, or can quickly master, the basic curriculum. Enrichment gives the student more
time to study concepts with greater depth, breadth, and complexity. It may be exciting for students, but
it is more than just skipping classes and having a good time. It assists in providing children with a well-
rounded, culturally rich education by engaging them in activities that enhance their learning. Enrichment
allows kids to attempt new and varied activities that may not exactly fit into the curriculum but that
improve character, resilience, and motivation, as well as push them to seek larger goals.

PEMDAS that stands for "Promote learner and teacher interaction through enrichment activities to
boost student's motivation in learning mathematics and develop their self-efficacy and self regulation."
An enrichment exercise designed by the researchers to make learning more enjoyable and interesting.
This enrichment activity will be critical in moving students' learning toward the topic's subject standards
in an enjoyable way. This will allow students to gradually understand the concept of the issue to be
discussed and provide hints or clues as to what critical skills or attitudes will be used. Furthermore, the
incorporation of such activities will set their interests to learn and develop what is required to be
developed while also having fun via learning.

This enrichment activity is composed of four MELCs (Most Essential Learning Competencies) about
functions in mathematics (piecewise functions), namely:
1. Represents real-life situations using functions, including piecewise functions.
2. Evaluate a function.
3. Performs addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and composition of functions
4. Solve problems involving functions. Each MELC has a particular activity created by the researcher.
Within this activity, it is aligned with the skills and attitudes needed for the students to grasp the
content and performance standards.

This activity will be implemented before the proper discussion of the teacher, this activity will awaken
the learners interest and curiosity as to what the certain topic will be tackle, the researcher integrated
the enrichment activity through various subjects in applying the principles of learning and summing up
the result of the problems encountered by learners in learning mathematics.

In Lesson 1 where the learning competency is about Representing real-life situations using functions,
including piecewise functions. Amazing Race will be conducted with a function twist, the first station
entitled One to One where the teacher will divide the class in two groups consisting of 6 members each.
The game consists of 4 stations. The first station is the "one to one" where each group will select only
one member/representative. The first station is playing volleyball where both opposing individuals will
catch the ball and pass it on the other side. The duration will be 5 repetitions. Afterwards, both of the
representatives will proceed to the next station. However if one of the team fails to pass the ball on the
other side, the successful representative will proceed but the failed group will substitute the spot in
order to pass the requirement of the station. If passed, then the group can proceed.

Second station entitled Many to Many where all the members of the two groups will play. Each groups
will divide the total number of members into two groups facing opposite to each other. Each member of
the group will have one towel. The station works where the teacher will command the start of the play.
Once the teacher say "Go" each group members will throw their towels upward and same goes to the
other group. Once all the members of the team throw their towels, they will switch places and must
catch the towel of their team mate and be on their spot.
The duration will be within 2 minutes, whoever fails to do the task will start again within that same time
constraints. Then the group can proceed to the third station.

Third station entitled One where only one member each group will play. The teacher will provide two
inflated balloons for each player. The mechanics of the game is both the players will be handicapped
and only with the use of their mouth to blow the balloons up. Each player will do the routine to not let
the balloon fall in the ground. If succeed, then they can proceed to the next station.

Last Station entitled "many to one" 5 members will be needed for each group. The station will utilize the
idea of Maria Went To Town Mechanics. Four of the members will serve as the one that will put the
outfit on their representative. Afterwards, each representative will do the runway and each outfit must
be on their designated areas. The putting of outfits must only be within 3 minutes. Whoever fails to do
the task cannot complete this station. If succeed, then the team that completes the four stations win the
game. These activities are in the relationship of the Relation of Functions where the basic concepts is
performed and analyzed.

In Lesson 2 where the learning competency is about evaluating a function. Buzz Session will be
conducted where the participants come together in pair that focuses on a single topic. Within each
group, every student contributes thoughts and ideas. The teacher will give each pair 4 pieces of fruits
( mango, apple, orange, and grapes). Each fruits correspond to a value. Mango is 5, Apple is 10, Orange
is 15, and Grapes is 20. In order for the students to answer each expressions presented, the teacher will
also give 4 pieces of paper with a variety of colors (red, blue, yellow, and orange). Each piece of paper
corresponds to a value. The red is 5, blue is 10, yellow is 15, and orange is 20. They will raise their
answer according to the value of each paper. Each student must answer each questions in 1 minute. The
team with the most points will be the winner. Encourage discussion and collaboration among the
students within each group. Everyone should learn from each other’s input and experiences. As a
teacher, you could give your students some keywords to spark the conversation.

In Lesson 3 where the learning competency is about performing addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division, and composition of functions. The boat is sinking is implemented with a twist, where the
teacher will divide the class into two. After, he/she will give an expression, the answer of the students
must corresponds to the number of members they can form. For example 5x-3 where x=2. So, each
group must group themselves consisting of 7 individuals.

Lastly, in Lesson 4 where the learning competency is about solving problems involving functions.
The worst case scenario activity will be injected to the learner, they might have familiar thoughts about
this activity because it is also known as Dr. KwakKwak in Cebuano it is one of the pinoy games that the
children would play. Where The teacher will group the students into five groups consisting of 6
members. Each group, the 5 members will serve as the one that will form a circle and the sixth member
will serve as the problem solver. The teacher will then give instruction to the 5 members to coil both of
their hands and feet the same as with the other groups. In order for the activity to be engaging and
exciting, the problem solver will turn their back while the 5 members are following the instruction.
Lastly, the problem solver will fix the coiled members into its normal form and the one that will finish
first before the time runs out will be the winner. This activity will help students to practice their problem
solving skills and will be applied in this lesson in problem solving involving functions.
