Fungal Diagnostics
12/29/2022 – 12/29/2023

Comments
Objective Comments:
 Wow, challenging topic
 The objectives provided a good groundwork of the increasing prevalence of fungal infections and the
various ways to identify the pathogen
 I thought there could more emphasis on patient cases and understanding which test is appropriate to
order for diagnosis
 I felt that all learning objectives were met and the PowerPoint was very well organized. The chart
comparing the different fungal diagnostic tests is very organized and I will use it as a reference in my
practice.

Speaker Comments:
 Outstanding – Excellent
 Speaker spoke clear and presented in a way that made the material easy to understand
 Speaker has a vast knowledge of the topic and the presentation was easy to understand
 Presentation was well organized. There was a lot of new information
 Great delivery, easy to understand, great explanation of difficult topic
 Excellent presentation skills. Spoke clearly and easy to understand. Slides were nicely organized and
included an appropriate amount of pertinent information.
 Sarah spoke very quickly at times and it seemed like she was rushing through the slides. Tone of her voice
was good.

What new information did you learn?

 All new information regarding fungal tests available, i was unfamiliar with all of them- thanks!
 I've seen several of these tests used in the clinical setting but was not aware of the differences
 The different types of diagnostic method and cost as well as duration times for test results
 The specific factors for increased prevalence of fungal infections as well as all of the different diagnostic
tests available
 Indications and purpose of each fungal diagnostic test
 The differences in diagnostic tests for fungal infections - specifically which tests can be done quickly versus
tests that take longer to get results
 I learned more about the different types of fungal diagnostic tests. I have learned about some of the
diagnostic tests, but not all of the tests described in this module.
 Turnaround time of different fungal tests
How will you address the barriers identified?
 Will look more carefully into patient charts to see if any of these tests are ordered or resulted
 Some of the diagnostic tests can be costly. I would recommend ruling out other infections prior to utilizing
the costly fungal diagnostic tests. This way the patient is still getting the needed test, but the company is
not spending money when it is not needed.

Comments to help improve this activity?

 Challenging topic, would perhaps gain more within our scope on medication education (rather than
diagnostics?)
 Very helpful – nicely done
