Our Pandemic Stories

The pandemic has created unique situations, and there have created unique stories. Now is
the time for you to share yours.

You will have one hour to write a short story (fiction) that reflects something about your life
over the past 12 months living in the times of Covid-19.

Remember to plan first and use all the skills learned in class this year (One setting, very few
characters, use of descriptive writing, use of sensory details to build tension)

The word limit for this task is 400 words. Any more than this will not be considered, so keep
this in mind when planning and writing.

How my life turned upside down

Life turned upside down in a blink of an eye. It was the 13 th of March, sunny day. Woke up,
changed to my uniform, and went to school at 6 AM. I met my friends in school and greet
them as usual. We went through the day normally as we should. Suddenly, news about the
corona virus has been spread throughout the media. Back then, I did not think much of it as I
thought it will clear up soon enough. The government decided to go on a lockdown. They
closed all the schools, malls, and even workplaces.

Day by day, weeks by weeks, months by months, nothing has changed. The corona cases
have increased and hospitals are getting more occupied. I am still stuck at home not knowing
when things are going back to normal. I missed my friends, family, and even going to school.
I missed going to the mall, going to theme parks, and generally having fun with life.

I wished I did not take my life before this pandemic for granted. The pandemic has ruined a
lot of people’s lives. So many people suffered from the virus, and more families mourn on
their beloved family that died from this virus. I hope things do get better and I hope I get to
see my family and friends sooner.
