“GAB AND KEN”

By: Gabriel C. Umban

Gab and his best friend Ken had been inseparable since elementary school. They shared

a love for video games and skateboarding, but now their conversations were dominated by

Covid-19. They worried about their grandparents and the impact the pandemic was having on

their community. Gab felt frustrated that some of his peers didn't take the virus seriously, and

he struggled to balance the desire for socialization with the need to stay safe. Gab and Ken

were sitting on a park bench discussing the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Gab expressed his

frustration with the pandemic, as it had put a pause on many aspects of his teenage life, such as

hanging out with friends and attending social events. Ken agreed, but also mentioned the

importance of following safety guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.

As the pandemic raged on, Gab and Ken became even closer. They talked about the

future and what life would look like once the virus was under control. They dreamed of

travelling the world and experiencing new cultures. They also realized how lucky they were to

have each other during such a difficult time. As the conversation continued, Gab realized the

impact of the pandemic on his community as a teenager in Generation Z. He recalled how the

pandemic had brought to light the digital divide, with many students unable to access online
classes due to lack of resources. He also expressed concern for the mental health of his peers,

who were struggling with the isolation and uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

In the end, Gab and Ken emerged from the pandemic stronger than ever. They learned

to appreciate the simple things in life, like a walk in the park or a good conversation with a

friend. They also became more aware of the world around them, and were determined to use

their voices to make a positive impact on their community. Despite the challenges, Gab and Ken

remained optimistic and committed to staying safe and supporting their community during this

time. They discussed ways to stay connected with friends and family while social distancing,

and brainstormed ideas for helping those in need. As they parted ways, Gab felt a sense of

camaraderie with his best friend and a renewed determination to make the best of the

situation.

“Pandemic”
By: Nicole P. Bantiquete

It's been almost three years since the pandemic outrageously changed many moments

of our lives. Many people were infected by the virus; almost all of us were quarantined in our

own homes; physical contact was not advisable; and it seems like the whole world was in chaos,

thinking how we could fight with the unseen and invisible enemies. Thanks to the front liners,

particularly the health workers, for bravely fighting and sacrificing themselves for the sake of

other people. Within those three years, a lot of things happened in my life, and I also learned a

lot of things.

I was in my eighth year of school and had almost finished the school year when

suddenly it was announced that classes would be suspended for two weeks due to the harmful

effects of the Corona virus. However, those two weeks became a month, a year, and then two

years. Since I'm just in the middle of my teenage years and still undergoing adolescence, I

seemed to merely understand life back then. Typically, I'm just a person who goes with the

flow. In the first half of the pandemic, while stuck in our home, I didn't even have a chance to

meet with my friends, who are just a few walks from our home; that's when I realized how
important outside life is to us. I remember there was one time when I helped my older sister

with her video presentation for her project in school, and it was all about life during the

pandemic. As she narrates the outcome that she wants and the meaning behind her video,

there were indeed a lot of things that happened and changed during those times. Many

infrastructures were close, and this is the school where we can meet many people—students,

teachers, and, of course, classmates that some have turned into friends. The used to be busy

road, you can now count how many vehicles are in the road.  We were so confident facing

people with our whole bare face, but due to the safety guidelines, half of our face is covered,

and some people now are not just using face masks to protect themselves from the unseen

virus but also because their confidence goes down and they are using face masks to hide their

insecurities. See how much impact the pandemic caused us. It did not just affect our health; it

also caused harm to our physical, mental, and social lives. Gratefully, this time, everything is

slowly going back to its place.

Whether there is a crisis or not, it is very important to appreciate life and what it offers.

While there is still time, go and enjoy life because we don't know what will happen over the

next few days. Hardships and challenges are always on our way to hinder us, but don't ever let

those overwhelm you; keep on fighting and trust the process. Everything will be alright in time;

trust God and ourselves.

“Virtual Love in Pandemic”

By: Jonas Ivan A. Ambalesa

Juan had always been a romantic at heart, but he never imagined that his love

story would unfold during a pandemic. When COVID-19 hit, he found himself

struggling to adjust to the new normal of social distancing and quarantine. However,

fate had other plans for him when he met Jane online. Despite the challenges of virtual

dating and not being able to meet in person, their connection grew stronger each day.

As they navigated their way through the pandemic, Juan and Jane found solace

in each other's company. They spent countless hours on video calls, sharing their hopes,

dreams, and fears. They even found creative ways to have virtual dates, like cooking

the same meal together and enjoying it over video chat. Eventually, when it was safe to

do so, they met in person and their love story reached a new level.

In the end, Juan realized that the pandemic had brought unexpected gifts into

his life, and falling in love with Jane was one of them. He was grateful for the ways in

which they had supported each other during such a difficult time and was excited to see

where their love story would take them in the future.
