MINUTES OF STAFF DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE HEARING HELD IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES

Minute KZ/01/2023: Disciplinary hearing on stealing 15 eggs.

The Disciplinary hearing committee was called to assess a complaint from Mapanga 2
concerning Electrician, Khumbo Zatchipa who was found with 15 eggs in his bag.
Minute KZ/02/2023: Response by Mr. Khumbo Zatchipa
It was on Sunday 2nd April 2023, Khumbo Zatchipa was found with 15 eggs when he was
searched by the security at the gate.
In his defense Mr. Zatchipa told the panel that he had a loan with people and when he received
his salary, he paid back all the people he owed and some of the money he bought Maize Flour
to add up with the one he received and he did not have money for relish. Mr. Khumbo then
decided to still 15 eggs in order to put up with the issue of not having relish at home.
He continued telling the panel that he was caught by the security guards at the gate when they
were searching him. At first they did not find anything but before he finished searching, Mr. Asif
came and told the guard to search him again and he was found with 15 eggs that he stole when
he was in Automatic Khola 2.
When he was asked how he managed to come out from the Khola with all those eggs, he said
that he put on a jacket and he managed to put 5 eggs each in the three pockets of the jacket as
it was cold that day and the people did not notice him.
Minute KZ/03/2023 - Committee’s observation and recommendation
1. The committee observed that Mr. Zatchipa took advantage of the lenience of the
Supervisors and the Section manager for allowing them to put on jackets when it is cold.

2. The committee also observed that his defense was baseless and that it might happen
that he has been stealing these eggs for a long time.

 3. Furthermore, the committee observed that restricting employees to put on work suit
only will contain the theft cases which are on the increase.

4. Therefore, the committee recommends that Mr. Khumbo Zantchipa be summarily

dismissed in tandem with the Company’s conditions of service regarding theft.
