A. BASICDATA:
The well Puri-01 (Loc. OPUE) is the first well drilled in OALP II, MN-ONHP-2018/2
to explore the hydrocarbon prospects within the Early Cretaceous Syn-rift
Intertrappean Sequence and part of Paleocene Sequence . The well was drilled as a
vertical down to a depth of 1080.0 m.
However, after drilling down to a depth of 890.0 m, very hard, compact,
Quartzofelspathic Basement rock was encountered which continued down till 1080.0
m.
Based on overall evidence provided by analysis of the drilled cuttings, side wall
cores, open-hole wireline log interpretation, well correlation, conventional cores (lab
tests yet to be carried out) and drilling data, two prospective zones were identified for
testing, viz., 860-m Sand in the range 860.0-865.0 & 844-m Sand in the range 843.0-
850.0 m.
On 05.05.2023, Schlumberger perforated the 860-m Sand in the range 860.0-865.0 m
using 2.1/8” Power Spiral Gun. No immediate pressure built up was observed after
perforation. The well was opened but no inflow was observed. Even after unloading a
cumulative of 196 bbls of well fluid (hole volume), no inflow was observed. In view
of no inflow from the zone, it was decided to test the higher up 843-m Sand under
live conditions.
It is to be noted that, three bottoms up samples were collected prior to perforation of
the higher up sand, viz., first at 930.0 m during initial circulation for changeover of
well fluid, second at 930.0 m after the complete changeover of well fluid and third at
860.0 m (perforation top). The salinity of the samples was measured to be 150 ppm
which is the salinity of the well fluid.
On 09.05.2023, Schlumberger perforated the 844-m Sand in the range 843.0 – 850.0
in two runs, viz., 844.0 – 850.0 m and 843.0 – 844.0 m. After perforation, no
immediate pressure build up was observed. It is to be noted that the well was kept
shut- in for around two and half hours during the interval between the two

perforations. A cumulative of 198 bbls (till 10.05.02023 morning) was unloaded but
no inflow was observed.
View above, the well is of very poor prospectivity. Hence, it is proposed to
permanently abandon the well as per OIL’s permanent abandonment policy.

28. Place 100.0 m second cement plug of 15.2 ppg cement slurry from 300.0 to 200.0 m.
29. Pull back OEDP up to 120m. Reverse circulate two tubing volume of 9.6ppg brine
solution.
30. WOC for 36 hours.
31. After WOC, POOH OEDP. Run in 8.1/2” bit and tag cement top by putting 8 Tons
string weight. Carry out positive pressure test of cement plug up to 500 psi in stages.
32. If positive test is okay, POOH bit.
33. R/in 9⅝” hydraulic casing cutter down to 80.0 m.
34. Cut 9⅝” casing at 80.0 m. Pick-up 9-5/8” with casing spear and place spool (13⅝ -
11” x 5M) on tie rod. Retrieve 9-5/8” slip seal assembly. Re-place above spool on
13⅝ casing head housing. Retrieve 9-5/8” casing. (Note: Cement Top at 55.0 m
approx. in annulus).
35. Run in OEDP to 200.0 m.
36. Place high viscous pill from 200.0 m to 130.0 m.
37. Pull back OEDP to 130 m, circulate for one cycle with 9.6ppg of brine solution.
38. Place 100.0 m cement slurry of 15.2 ppg from 130.0 m to 20.0m (50m cement plug
inside 9-5/8” casing and remaining 60m cement plug inside 13-3/8 casing).
39. Pull back to OEDP to surface. Clean cellar, well head (13⅝ - 11” x 5M spool), BOP
stack and CHH with water.
40. WOC for 48 hours.
41. Tag cement plug with 12¼” bit. Test surface plug up to 500 psi.
42. Recover 13⅝ - 11” x 5M spool, 13-5/8” casing head housing and base plate. Cut 13-
3/8” casing from cellar bed.
43. Top up the well with dry cement from 20.0 m to surface. Cap the well by putting MS
plate on 13-3/8” casing well mouth.
