Senior High School department of the K-12 program. It concentrates on the
fundamentals of accounting, business administration and other things associated
with business. The ABM strand provides courses that can give students an
advanced knowledge about the business industry. To be specific, this strand is
what a student would choose if he or she would want to have a certain
occupation that is related to business.

up a business in the future. This can help the students and an individual know if
the Accountancy and Business Management is beneficial for them in creating a
business in the future. Through this research, the researchers will ask an
individual who studied ABM-related courses that are starting up or owning a
business in order to identify if studying ABM had a big advantage or benefit
throughout their business journey.

Related Studies

According to a researcher named Daniel Joy Sael (2019), establishing a

small business while studying is just equivalent to not establishing a business
while studying. As stated in his study, both sides have advantages. It has been
stated through his study that establishing a business while studying provides an
advanced knowledge about managing a business and at the same time, it also
helps them financially in accordance to his respondents. Furthermore, this could
help the students in applying their knowledge on real life occurrences. On the
other hand, the respondents who rather have no business while studying
articulated that they just want to keep their attention on their studies and any
school-related interests.

stated that the Socioeconomic status affected the students in achieving their
goals of pursuing their dream course or jobs in the near future. Based on the
gathered data, the socioeconomic status of the students serves as their
motivating factor to strive hard and to have a bright future. According to the
study, students needs to be informed about the benefits and drawbacks of
choosing the ABM strand. For those who plans to pursue this track, preparation
and expectation are very crucial.

CHAPTER II

Research Design

This study uses phenomenological approach to explore the experiences or

points of view of an individual who has taken ABM-related courses and is
establishing a business. This approach is a qualitative research design that aims
to capture the lived experiences of specific individuals and describe the
meanings of such experiences from an insider perspective, which in this case is
the experience of business owners studying ABM-related courses as part of the
business establishment process. A phenomenology aims to investigate
contextual meaning by utilizing the situational knowledge of individuals being
studied. The researchers will conduct a methodical search for business owners
who took ABM-related courses to see how useful the courses were in starting a
business.

Research Sampling

The researchers will employ quota sampling in this study. Quota sampling is a
non-probability sampling method that involves the non-random selection of a set
number or proportion of units. This sampling technique is suitable for the study
since it allows the researchers to sample a subgroup that is of particular interest
to the study. The researchers will select a minimum of ten (10) participants for
the study within Maasin City.

Research Instruments

The researchers' essential data gathering tools are

questionnaires .Questionnaires are the most appropriate instrument for this
research in order to obtain the necessary data for the study. The questionnaires
will consist of the questions that the participants must answer. The questions will
be thoroughly scrutinized to ensure that they will be beneficial in gathering data
that is consistent with the study. The research tools are critical to the outcome of
this study since they will address the issue.

Data Collection Procedure

Once the researchers has decided which design and tools will be used in the
research, they can proceed in collecting data. The data will be gathered using
more specific questions that the study needed to be answered. To appropriately
collect data, the researchers ensured that they used a criterion for selecting
participants and that they were given approval from the instructor to start
collecting data from the selected individuals. The researchers would ask
permission to the selected participants, and after approval, the researchers
would then proceed on giving the questionnaires and asking for interviews to the
participants. The researchers will give questionnaires/interviews to 10
participants. In the questionnaires, clear instructions are given on how to answer
the questions. To protect the researcher, the respondents, and the data acquired,
researchers will maintain professionalism and observe the ethical considerations
in research while collecting data.

Data Treatment

The researchers will use thematic analysis in this research. Thematic

analysis is a qualitative data analysis process in which it involves reading over a
set of data and finding themes by looking for the patterns in the data. The
thematic analysis will support the researcher to interpret, find themes and the
same patterns of data in the study be examined thoroughly by reading through a
gathered data. This analysis will help the researcher that aims to know the
usefulness of ABM-related courses to an individual who is establishing a
business be examined thoroughly by reading through a gathered data. This
includes a process such as familiarization is to get to know the data it involve
transcribing audio, reading through the text and taking initial notes, and looking
for the data to get familiar with it. Coding is to identify the code of the data which
means highlighting the texts. Next, we look over the codes we’ve created, identify
patterns among them, and start coming up with themes and to make sure the
themes are useful and represents the data. Once the final list of themes is done,
it’s time to name and define each of them and write the analysis of the data.
