QR CODED BASED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON SYSTEMS PLUS COMPUTER COLLEGE 1

INTRODUCTION

This QR code based library system of Systems Plus Computer College is to

provide a lifetime use of a library management system in our school that can be

used by the students in their daily needs of what books they want or need. This has

a home page, a log in page where you can log into your account, a sign up page

where you can insert your information into the website to log in, a books page that

includes the books we have in our library, a profile page that has your information,

and a feedback page where you can leave a comment about the site. This has a QR

Code system that can help students easily borrow books. Ms. Galvez (2022).

With the development of communication technologies in today's digital

world, data and information are no longer tied to specific geographic locations.

Students of today's generation frequently multitask and use online resources rather

than those found in physical libraries. This can be explained by the simplicity of

accessing information with just one click rather to wasting time looking through

books. Coleman, (2011). Any library system's main organizational and record-

keeping challenges are these. Due to the high volume of patrons and materials, there

is a potential that books will be lost because they are moved about the library

frequently. the challenge of users and librarians trying to find the books. Dani &

Patil (2020).

A QR code-based library management system is introduced to help

librarians and users overcome all of their challenges and improve the overall

functionality of the library. This system uses a QR code to create a database for all

books, staff, and students, which is then uploaded using the Python Flask

Framework. The database management system serves as the foundation for the

library management system implementation utilizing the Python Qt5 framework.

This software is intended to manage all book records as well as staff and student

data for the loan and return of books. The term "database" describes a group of

records that can create information that is helpful. Dyade & Bhande (2017).

You can access, modify, manage, regulate, and organize the data to carry

out different data processing tasks. QR codes are 2D matrix barcodes that are

scanned using exploitation-smart and web-capable smart mobile phones having

cameras with website address, email address, details of items within catalogue, and

phone numbers. The data is indexed across rows, columns, and tablets that makes

workload processing operations. The primary goal of the 2D symbols known as QR

codes, invented by Toyota Denso Wave in 1994, was to make them quickly and

simply decodable by scanner equipment in both the vertical and horizontal

orientations. There are primarily four types of data that can be encoded into

information or transmitted through supported extensions: numeric, alphanumeric,

byte or binary, and kanji. Gopale (2019).

Using a computer-based information system to manage the library allows

the staff to keep track of the collection and create reports. A library management

system that is integrated into the cloud computing architecture offers benefits

including the ability to share collections with other institutions so that students from

those institutions can access the catalog in more advanced development. Kadli

(2020).

Theoretical perspective studies in suggested that Quick Response (QR)

code is one of the technologies that could be used in library management system

and suggested that the use of QR code for library offer some advantages involving

such as fast process, able to store big data, uses standard technology (only camera

to percept the code), and can be used by user without specific skills so that it would

be able to improve service quality, such as to shorten borrowing or return times.

Based on these benefits, a library management system was developed using a QR

code in this published study. I. T. Asare, & D. Asare (2015).

Because a QR code might be created by the user and printed by them. When

used in a library, QR codes can be used for a variety of things, including directing

users to online information, displaying the most recent schedule, highlighting the

electronic resources that are currently available in the catalog, downloading

documents, finding information through searches, and allocating bookshelves.

Additionally, a QR code might be used to locate and find out the availability of a

specific book. Xie (2014).

SCOPE

• The users can Login into system and Request a book to borrow and they

will see the pending Book Request they have.

• They will also see the Book that they borrowed and see if this is already

returned or not, they can also give a feedback in the system if user don’t

have account they can register into Sign up page.

• The admin can Login into system and add, delete and update a Book, they

can also approve the pending book request by the student and see if the book

that borrowed is returned or not if the admit don’t account they can also

Register into Sign up page.

• The transaction will be made easier by combining QR codes in this library

system.

LIMITATION

• The Library system is can only use by the student of SPCC

• There is no messaging functionalities in this Library system that you can

communicate between the student and admin.

• All the work should be done from the desktop only.

• Accessing number doesn’t auto increment.

APPROACH

QR CODED BASED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON SYSTEMS PLUS COMPUTER COLLEGE 6

Library management system offers an automated library system for the
librarians and students, similar to inventory system the librarian can manage and
keeps track on available books in the library. All the books in the library of SPCC
Caloocan that are available to borrow are included in the system.

Dashboard can view all the available books in the library, it can help the
librarian to keep track to all of the borrowed and returned books. The system has a
list of books where all the available book in the library are listed, the librarian are
also able to add and remove some books that are no longer available or pulled from
the library.

The system uses a Quick Response code or QR code as a method of

burrowing a book to the students, the system can view QR code that allows the
students to access the book that they burrow instantly although it has some
drawbacks it is still an innovative way to access files and other types of media and
other businesses are considering the use of QR code. The students must fill up a
form to borrow a book it will serve as a transaction between the librarians and the
students.

Upon returning book same process of filling up a form must be done to

complete the process of returning books. Lastly notification is also a feature that
the system had, it sends notification to the students who borrow a book about the
upcoming due date of the book. The students can benefit to the notification feature
of this system, this will help them to return the book on the due time or earlier.

IT MATTERS

The main advantage of the QR code-based library management system is

the fast accessibility of books that can be achieved with modern technology that we
used today. Librarians can now search and manage the books in the library way
faster than before.

This system will benefit teachers and students on the IT field, the book on

the library can now be accessed easily using this system. It can also make the job

of the librarians easy since it uses a computer to manage the books that are in the

library this can provide a faster processing of data and less interaction between the

students.

With the use of modern technology librarian can now handle all the hard
works in the library with ease since it does not require any paper work that are
difficult to handle. It is beneficial to use a technology that grants quick access to all
files to prevent any confusion on work.

BUSINESS MATTERS

QR CODED BASED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON SYSTEMS PLUS COMPUTER COLLEGE 8

This system can contribute in business of the school because it can help the

librarian to monitor when the borrowers don't return the books in the right time,

since QR code has been released on the public it became a big thing on different

field especially in school business since it was easy to access using smartphones.

The transaction time was lessened thanks to the QR codes businesses can

now accommodate more customers will less interaction and less time, QR codes

really changed the lives of the many since it can be used by simply scanning using

smartphones that most of the peoples had.

NEW TECHNOLOGY

QR CODED BASED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON SYSTEMS PLUS COMPUTER COLLEGE 9

The new technology that is applied to the project is the QR Code that is

equivalent to the Bar code that is still used today. As the use of new technology

grows, library platforms are opening up, providing opportunities to improve how

quickly and easily individuals can access the right information wherever they are.

As a result, to comply with this rule, library professionals must adopt new apps in

order to improve library services and keep up with technological advancements.

Although QR Code is one of the technologies already used to improve the

serviceability of library activities, it is still difficult to adopt and integrate all the

activities that support academic function even if it may satisfy the needs of users

and library professionals. Hoy (2011).

Denso Wave Incorporated created quick response (QR) codes in 1994 as

two-dimensional, machine-readable matrix bar codes for quick and accurate

inventory inspections. In essence, a QR code is a dynamic, two-dimensional format.

If a QR code is linked to a URL and the URL changes at any moment, the

underlying data of the URL can be changed without modifying the QR code's visual

representation, S. Hossain, X. Zhou, and F. Rahman (2018).

From a variety of sources, QR codes are simply made online. It has the

ability to dial a number, make a phone call, open a PDF file or launch a specific

mobile application in addition to linking to plain text, a website, a template email

QR CODED BASED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON SYSTEMS PLUS COMPUTER COLLEGE 10

or text message, and basic text. Numerous commercial uses of QR codes have

arisen as a result of the growing accessibility of smartphones with cameras,

including marketing, the management of transportation tickets, and more recently,

social media apps, C.T. Karia, A.Hughes, and S.Carr (2019).

.
RECOMENDATIONS

The proponent recommends to implement this proposal since a lot of

students spent their time using mobile devices and since QR code are widely used

at this day. This will benefit the librarians, teachers, and the students since it require

lesser contact and borrowing and books and managing will be easier with the help

of this project.

This also conducts a recommendation to have a SMS notification sent to the

borrowers when they have to return the books that they borrowed into the library,

and this notification reminds them that they will have to pay if they do not return

the book on the exact date it is due.
