With the rapid advancement of communication technology, e.g.

smartphones,
tablets, and other mobile devices, some people believe that the disadvantages
outweigh the advantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is true that our life has been significantly revolutionized by the advent of modern
technologies however some people believe that the drawbacks of such devices
would eclipse the benefits. In my opinion, the writer completely disagrees with that
statement because the benefits of communication technology outweigh its
drawbacks.
When people use them, several problems cannot be anticipated. As people rely too
much on tablets or mobile phones, there would be a high chance of them losing the
ability to effectively interact with each other in real life. In fact, with the advent of
modern technologies such as smartphones and the immense popularity of the
Internet, people are switching to electronic relations. They tend to make new
friends on social networking sites like Facebook, Zalo rather than hanging out at
the coffee shop or a club to make friends. Therefore, they may be in easy contact
with fair-weather friends. Moreover, it seems that the Internet now distracts
learners from their study and work which leads to them engaging in an online
conversation with their friends instead of staying focused on their duties.
In spite of the drawbacks mentioned above, I believe that communication
technology is a positive trend. First, an important point to consider is that it will
help customers save time. With a couple of clicks of their mouse, people can buy
many things on websites. Thus, buyers do not need to go out to purchase the
products. Through this activity, customers can save a lot of time and also avoid
being caught in traffic congestion or extreme weather outside. Second, lower costs
and the immense popularity of the internet enable a large number of students all
over the world to attend online tertiary education courses regardless of not only
their financial background but also current living places.
In conclusion, while communication technology such as smartphones, tablets, and
so on may have some positive aspects, the author believes they are outweighed by
the more significant negative aspects.
