Dear all of the tough and beautiful filmmakers, Mrs. Nguyễn Hoàng Điệp, Ms. Uisenma Borchu, Ms.

Kim Mi-jo and Ms. Feng-I Fiona Roan,

I'm Minh Thy from Vietnam, a fool who chose to make movies. I have made a number of short films
and my most recent short film was selected at the Venice Film Festival. I'm also on my way to
develop my first feature-length film project and a long road ahead is waiting for me to figure it out.

Thanks to the Autumn Meeting that a series of films by female directors are shown during the event, I
have the honor to watch all of your films. I was also assigned the responsibility of hosting a forum
talk titled ‘Woman Film, Woman Live’ in which there will humbly have the presence of four directors,
including:

1/ Director Nguyễn Hoàng Điệp (Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere,...)

2/ Director Uisenma Borchu (Black Milk,...)
3/ Director Kim Mi-jo (Gull,...)
4/ Director Feng-I Fiona Roan (American Girl,...)

This ‘Woman Film Woman Live’ talk was previously held by the Autumn Meeting in 2017. After 5
years, we still want to continue this conversation to honor female directors. From the perspective of
Autumn Meeting, the more female voices there are, the greater the diversity and richness in cinema.
Moreover, the balance between masculinity and femininity is what we care for and desire.

This year, we also re-invited two old guests, Mrs. Nguyen Hoang Diep and Ms. Uisenma Borchu, with
the desire to extend the conversation and explore if there are any specific changes of opinion and
perspective from what we had 5 years ago. Besides, It is an honor to have the presence of two new
guest directors, Ms. Kim Mi-jo and Ms. Feng-I Fiona Roan to have more diversity and fresh sharings
because we all come from different backgrounds.

We can't wait to hear your stories, your struggles and your joys as a filmmaker and as a woman.

In Vietnam, I know that there are many young female directors who are also foolishly pursuing the
path of filmmaking, just like me, and many more male directors want to acknowledge the paths of
other successful female directors in the world as well as hear about the sharings and encouragement
that comes from all of you.

I have prepared a few questions that both me and the audience would like you to share more at the
talk:

- Introduce each of us (example: your name; where are you from; the films you made; the main
theme in your films; why you started making movies;...)
- Filmmaking context/background in each country (working environment, the cinema industry
in general, the percentage between male and female filmmakers, ...)
- Obstacles as well as difficulties encountered during the making of the film.
- Special difficulties when a woman like you make movies (mentally and physically, the topic
of menstrual days while shooting is also an interesting thing that we can put on the table,...)
- Your next step or your next project and what kind of new obstacles you will conquer.
The talk will last for about two hours. If you have any questions or suggestions, I would love to hear
from you.

Thank you so much and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

Minh Thy
