    CHAPTER 1

    INTRODUCTION

    Agriculture is the most important sector for human being to survive their
    existence and the backbone for the development of any country. So, the agriculture
    sector is needed to be improved for the improvement of country. IoT based smart
    agriculture monitoring system can be a better way to improve this sector. In this
    chapter, the introduction to the IoT based smart agriculture monitoring system, the
    aim and objectives, the implementation of the thesis, the scope of thesis and the
    outline of thesis are described as follows:

    1.1. Introduction to IoT Based Smart Agriculture Monitoring System

    The farmers in our country use the traditional methods, which are completely
    dependent on manpower, to cultivate and monitor their crops and plants. The
    traditional agriculture sector cannot meet the requirements of modern agriculture
    which requires high-yield, high quality and efficient output. Use of technology can
    make this job easier and time efficient. [1] Internets of Things (IoT) technologies have
    created tsunamis almost in every industry across the world. IoT technologies and
    devices will sense, collect, store and communicate data to various components in an
    application such as smart agriculture. [2]
    The smart agriculture revolution refers to the use, integration and deployment
    of the latest technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) in agriculture, with the aim
    of improving and increasing the quantity and quality of crop harvest. The adoption of
    smart agriculture can be further improved among farmers in many ways. [2]
    In this thesis, we proposed a system to monitor the field with the help of IoT
    technology. IoT uses a wireless sensor network (WSN) as the backbone for gathering
    information for these monitoring and control applications. The monitoring system
    consists of end devices equipped with a variety of sensors to monitor various
    parameters like water level, soil moisture value, temperature and relative humidity
    and CO2 level and UV intensity and can communicate this data to the other devices
