The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australian exports to 4 different countries over a

period of 22 years.
It can be seen clearly that while there was a upward trend in the percentages of Australia’s
goods exported to China and India, the figure for Australian exports to Japan and US declined
considerably over the period shown.
the proportion of Australian merchandise sold to India has rosen slowly by about 6% from 1990
to 2010, before leveling out approximately 6%. On the other hand, exports to China witnessed
a slight growth between 1990 and 2003, then it quickly went up from 2003 to 2012 and
reached the highest point, at 30%.
By contrast, there was a fluctuation in Australian products exported to US between 1990 and
2000 before falling slightly to 7%. Meanwhile in Japan export market, the exports saw a
remarkable decline over the period shown and the figure for this market bottomed out at
nearly 18%.
