UNIT CIRCLES

Angle - is the formation of a ray

rotating from its endpoints.

UNIT CIRCLES

The standard position of an Angle is drawn in xy-plane with its vertex at the

origin and its initial on the positive x axis.
UNIT CIRCLES

Degree - is a unit measurement of an angle.

UNIT CIRCLES

Degree - is a unit measurement of an angle.

90° 30° 120°

Radian – is a unitless measure. It is a measurement of an angle that arises

from looking at angles as a fraction of the circumference of a unit circle.

HYPERBOLA

§ Is a smooth curve on a plane consisting of two cones.

HYPERBOLA

§ Parts of a Hyperbola

Vertex – is the major x or y axis.

Co-Vertex – is the minor x or y axis.
Foci – are the fixed points.
Transverse Axis – is where the vertex and foci are
located.
Conjugate Axis – is perpendicular to the transverse
axis.
Asymptote – are lines that gets closer to each other
but never intersects.
Latus Rectum - line passing through the foci of the
conics.
HYPERBOLA

Solving for the hyperbola at (h,k)

HYPERBOLA

Find the Vertices, Co-vertices, Foci, Latus rectum equation, LR length, LR endpoints,
and asymptotes of the hyperbola equation. Graph the hyperbola.

Vertices = (2 ± 4, -3) = (6,-3) (-2,-3)

Co-vertices = (2, -3 ± 8) = (2,5) (2,-11)
Foci = (2 ± 8.94, -3) = (10.94, -3) (-6.94,-3)

LR Eq = = x = 13 x = -19

LR Length= = 16
or 8.94 = 32
LR Endpoints= (2 ± 8.94, -3 ± )
Center (2, -3)
= (10.94, 13) (-6.94, 13)
(10.94, -19) (-6.94, -19)
