WORK EXPERIENCE

FULL TIME SCIENCE TEACHER January 2023 – present
Joseph F. Quinn Intermediate School 77, Queens, NY
I teach general science to four classes of 8th graders and one class of 6th graders. The school serves many Spanish-speaking
children as well as other immigrant students.
• Provide differentiation of materials and pedagogical techniques to support the ESL class and the dual language class,
in which many students do not speak English. To provide support, I post both English and Spanish content vocabulary
words in the classroom, front load vocab for students in the beginning of lessons and use an array of images to
convey concepts.
• Utilize technology in the classroom to enhance student learning and engagement by incorporating websites such as
Legends of Learning, Blooket, and Kahoot to gamify the learning experience.
• Collarborate with the dual language teacher and the special education teacher to devleop and implement lesson
plans that align with state and district standards but also to devise intervention plans for students who need extra
assistance.

FIELDWORK INTERN September 2022 – November 2022

M300, The Urban Assembly School of Design and Construction, New York, NY
As part of the master’s program at Hunter, I was placed at this school to observe 9th and 10th grade earth science and
living environment classes, assisting in the classroom alongside the host teacher. At the end of the placement, I
presented a 45-minute inquiry-driven lesson on osmosis, in which students studied the effects that different solutions
have on gummy bears. The students analyzed the quantitive results produced to understand how tonicity relates to the
volume of a cell.
• Motivated small groups of students within the classroom by providing guidance on how to create graphs, how to
interpret data, or what next steps should be taken on in-class assignments.
• Led do-now activitives and mini-lessons for the whole class, with the guidance from my mentor teacher.
• Aided the host teacher in grading in-class assignments and quizzes.

TUTOR June 2021 – September 2022
Private family, New York, NY
Tutored a 9th grade student in the biology content area, working together with her to devise study plans, reteach more
