A Step Towards Victory

Have you ever wondered why our country Philippines is known as the most
hospitable country? Especially towards visitors, foreigners, and expatriates? Well, foreign
people adore our country for its beauty and nature and how accommodating and kind are
people were. They love it more than us, why you might ask? It’s because we know more about
our country, we know how the beauty has it’s lacking and seemingly to have missing pieces.
For an instance, our surroundings, our beaches, one time when I was in a family vacation and
the beach resort was nice, however the neighboring resort was crowded and messy. They
were having fun but the place is getting dirty and some of the garbage like plastic cups were
seen floating in the waters of the oceans. What’s more unpleasant is I can see a fisherman not
so far from the beaches, as I sat there for a long time I’ve also watched him go Back to the
shore with nothing. See how our actions can cause domino effect especially when it hit our
nature first. I was bothered by the fact that our surrounding depends on our actions but we’re
careless most of the time. Not just on water but also in land wherein it’s not just issues but
also inequalities.

As an aspiring president of our country I have seen a lot especially on the point of view
of someone who is classified that’s from low class of the society. So I thought to myself that I
should make a change. We, you and I will make that change. To be frank ,our country is
roughly being productive and left out in terms of economy. Which is affected because of
various of social issues like poverty, corruption and discrimination. As I search for ways on how
to take action , I came across this goal that is also aimed by some countries, the Sustainable
Development Goals.

As a president should be responsible for it’s people and the welfare of its country, I
believe that I fill in the position with clear intention. My goal is to keep the country free from
pollution, illnesses, inequalities and discrimination. I want to make our country safe for us and
the children of our future. I want to show them a good role model, a good society and good
solidarity among fellow Filipinos.

When Pandemic started a lot of problems arise like discrimination , social injustice,
corruption and many more social concerns because we’re all in quarantines with a lot of
restrictions. It enables us to be observant of our government’s actions as well as how our
society responds to it. We, as a person, is a free individual who has rights and is responsible for
its every action. We have conscious minds designed to think and analyze every move we ought
to do. Given that we have a choice I need you to think about what’s happening in our country.
Keep in mind those people whose unfortunate enough to experience poverty, discrimination
on their gender identity, and discrimination or superiority among religions. According to

National economic and development authority, between 15.5%-17.5% of our
country’s population suffers from poverty. While 2 out of 10 people were discriminated
because of their gender identity and 1 out of 10 were discriminated because of their religion,
most of it are Muslim people because of the thought that they might be terrorists. And I know
some of us want to make a move or partake on activities that aims to put stop on this issues. I
have a lot of programs and resolutions to this without forcing anyone and let it be just act of
volunteerism and camaraderie.

All I need is your trust in me. We all want change but no one is brave enough to step
forward. We’re all planning but the question is “will it ever happen?”. Fellow Filipinos, I am
with you in this fight. I am with the poor, the sick, the voiceless. I will take the lead and make
your voices be heard. Our country shall rise again, and we’ll do it all for the glory of our
Almighty Creator. So join me, let’s take a step towards victory of our country.
