Nails
• A principal tool that joins
and keeps pieces of wood
together.
• Piece of metal with a circular
cross-section.
• One end is pointed and the
opposite end has a head.

• Has two heads
• Allows the nail to be
easily removed once
the scaffold is
removed

• Bigger but flatter heads
• Used to secure metal
roofs or slate roofing.
Screws
• Type of fastener used
for securing wood
together.
• More secure than nails
• Requires rotating
motion to drive or
remove.
Bolts and Nuts
• Used for delicate work,
like joining wood to
metal or masonry.
• Different from
ordinary screw.
• Threaded body with
compatible nuts
Fastener/Hinge
• Used to fasten two
pieces of wood that
are movable like
window, door,
cabinets, trunks, chest
and boxes.
