 WHAT

An English teacher is someone who is positioned at a balance level

of knowledge and its realization in teaching. This position is also for
non-native English teachers. The lessons that non-native English
teachers do are discussions or tucked in with "small talk" in class,
because they teach a language that is not their mother tongue. being
an English teacher must have extensive knowledge and always look
for learning methods that are far more effective so that students do
not understand and are interested in learning English. Being an
English teacher must also be aware that every student has a
different background, pay attention to all the students without
discrimination, give the students the opportunity to convey their
ideas, and have the good relationship with others (interpersonal
skills).
 WHY

This research involves the responses of the question of the

good language teacher figure become the data taken from 83
Sundanese students. They are students of the English
Department of a university in Tasikmalaya, who will be in the
pre-service teaching. From the participants, there will certainly
be different views on this matter, but they emphasized that
when you want to become a teacher, make sure there are
certain criteria, such as knowledge of way in teaching,
pedagogical skills ability in interaction, and personal values.
Students place that English lecturers have more knowledge
about "English" through their abilities in all language skills,
teach using the way to teach the language and its context, and
progressively improve those abilities by joining the forums.

Technical Knowledge

Pedagogical Skills
Pedagogical skills refer to teacher’s ability to know the level of
capability the students have in order to know the needs of the
students. Pedagogical skills also concerned with classroom
management where the students are involved in learning
attractively and easily.

Interpersonal skill is an important skill for teacher to have. This is something that describes the
quality of a teacher. A good teacher will be able to act wisely in the classroom. No discrimination
in teaching, and know the students background in teaching. A teacher should give the students
the same opportunity to express their idea or share their experience in learning to motivate them
