Area
Teaching Dates and MAY 18, 2023 Quarter FOURTH QUARTER
Time
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of measures of
position.
B. Performance Standard: The learner is able to investigate thoroughly the mathematical
relationship in situations, formulate real-life problems involving measure of position, and solve
them using a variety of strategies.
C. Learning Competencies. The learner illustrates the following measures of position: quartile,
decile and percentile. (M10SP-IVa-1)
At the end of the lesson, at least 75% of the class should be able to::
1. Determine the quartile of an ungrouped data (cognitive);
2. Solve quartile value of an ungrouped data (psycho-motor);
3. Appreciate the concept of measures of position in real life situation. (values).
III. METHODLOGY/PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
A. Preparatory Activity
I. Daily Routine
It’s nice to hear that. Are you ready for lesson for Yes Sir!
today?
All right! Before anything else, may I request (A student will lead the prayer.)
everybody to please stand for an opening prayer.
Class secretary will you please check the attendance (Class Secretary will check the attendance)
for today?
Before we start will you please pick up the pieces of (Students will pick up the pieces of paper under
paper under your chair. their chair.)
II.Review
“Before we proceed to our new lesson, let’s have first “It was all about measures of central tendency”
a quick review. Who can recall about the lesson we
discussed last meeting?”
“So class how do we define Central Tendency?” “Central Tendency is a descriptive summary of
datasets through a single value that reflects the
center of the date distribution. Along with the
variability of a data set, central tendency is a
branch of descriptive statistics”
“Very well said! You also learned the Mean, Median, “Yes Sir!”
Mode, right”
“Will you give me the definition of those three?” “Mean or average represents the sum of all
values in a data set divided by the total number
of the values.”
B. Motivation
Let us do another activity but this time a group
activity before we proceed to our lesson proper. Is Yes Sir!
everyone excited?
“MEASURE”
“POSITION”
“DIVIDE”
“EQUAL”
“QUARTER”
ERTQRAU
“Class what are the words did you encounter from the “The words are Measure, Position, Equal,
activity?” Divide, and Quarter”
“What can you say about our activity?” “The activity is fun and exciting sir!”
D. Discussion
“Now let’s discuss about quartile.”Please read the “Quartile is the score points which divide a
definition for quartile” distribution into four equal parts.”
“Thank you”

E. Enrichment Activity
1st problem:
You are going to know what is the quartile of the
scores in your mathematics class of your 11 friends Q1 is 6 , Q2 is 8 , and Q3 is9
including yours. The scores are 3, 5, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9,
9, 10. Find the Q1, Q 2, and Q 3.
2nd problem:
You have a big problem in your assignment about
getting the quartile of given distribution. Now, find a Q1 is 9, Q2 is 12, and Q3 is15
way that you can get the values of the quartile of the
ages of malnourished children in MIS.
7, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 15, 16, 16,
3rd problem:
You want to know how to easily solve a problem on
quartile. So, you invite a celebrity to give you tips on
how to solve quartile given a sample problem. Find Q1 is 5, Q2 is 7, and Q3 is9
the quartile of scores of 7 students in mathematics
remedial class.
5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
“As a recap, our lesson this morning is all about?” “Measures of position on quartile.”
“Okay! How can we apply it or where can you find it “When we get our grades sir. We can use it
in the real world? Any idea? when we get the position of our grades like the
highest score and the lowest score.”
“Nice! It is for us to be able to determine what subject “Yes sir!”
we need to give focus to have a higher-grade right?”
IV. EVALUATION
1. Find the lower quartile and upper quartile of the data. The number of days taken by each of 11
employees to finish a job were
32 39 27 23 42 35 42 29 46 37 42
2. Find the quartile of the problem. A group of students of MIS obtained the following scores in their
Statistics quiz:
8 5 4 5 7 3 6
ANSWER KEY:
1. Q1=29 , Q2=¿ 39 Q3=42
2. Q1=29 , Q2=¿ 39 Q3=42
V. ASSIGNMENT
Direction: Research and study in advance about Measures of Positions on Decile.
