Quality management is the act of overseeing all activities and tasks that must be accomplished to
maintain a desired level of excellence and this includes the determination of a quality policy,
creating and implementing quality planning and quality improvement (Mansa, 2020). In short quality
management is focus more on long term goals for the short-term initiatives. It is the process of
quality policy, implementing quality plan, and quality control plan. The quality management
process is complex which requires dedication, focus and robust for governance, otherwise it might
lead to quality defect or quality failure. There are many qualities failure that shook the world. This
can be understood by many examples.

To start with Honda motors in 1997, Honda in 2005, Mattel in 2007, Qualities Pharmaceuticals,
Bridgestone tires, and many more. The major reason behind the quality failure is defined by Black
(2016). 1. Lack of proper training .2. Lack of communication .3. Inability to integrate cross-functional
interactions4. No focus on Metrics .5. Low levels of Camaraderie .6. Standard are not set. 7. No
incentives for improvement.

In my opinion I don’t think that we can completely avoid failures. Failures are due to a lot of other
factors that just quality. ISO regulations are the standards for workers on how to done the job with
safety and betterment of quality but it can’t ensure that everything will be perfect and there won’t
be any failure in the production. The standards can reduce the failure. E-cars or driverless cars are
the next generation of cars which enable the car to drive by self to the chosen destination without
human interference. The auto manufacturers are rapidly working on the system and have developed
full functional products for the market usability. But still, they need more time and focus. Charites
University and Hospital in Berlin has driverless cars, these cars are being used to short distances
inside the area of university and the hospital. However, the university has also faced with many
issues due to E-cars. The automotive manufacturers are working on artificial intelligence (AI) and
using AI to improve the usability of their automotive in the market.

Conclusion

The quality management has proven that it is a critical factor for performance and project success. A
good business with effective quality can perform better with least failure. We can reduce the chance
of failure but we can’t avoid them completely.
