Romeo and Juliet: Compare and Contrast


Instructions: Go to Google Classroom and watch the three different versions of the R&J scene,
compare them each, and to Shakespeare's original play. Below list the ​3 ​& ​5 ​differences for each
scene.

Prologue:
Text Version:

1.It has some different lines compared to the film versions.

2.It doesn’t have a set scene for that part of the play, unlike the films.

3.It goes on longer than in the film versions.

Luhrmann (90’s) Version: This one won’t load and I’m virtual so I don’t think I can do it.

1.It’s shorter than the text version.

2.It takes place in like a castle area.

3.It uses multiple visual effects.

Act I Sword Fight Scene:

1.The sword fight is pretty long.
2.Quite a bit of dialogue.

3.Not very detailed when it comes to actions.

4.Has a lot of stuff adding up to the fight scene.

5.Not much action.

Luhrmann 90’s Version:

Hailee Steinfeld (2013) Version: Prologue and Fight Scene

1.Prolouge isn’t very descriptive.

2.Fight scene isn’t very accurate.

3.Not very much dialogue.

4.Not very entertaining compared to the others.

5.Pretty much no background info.
