Racism –

Racism is a belief or ideology that one racial or ethnic group is superior or inferior to
another, and it can manifest in various forms of discrimination, prejudice, and unequal
treatment towards individuals or groups based on their race or ethnicity. Racism can be
explicit and intentional, or it can be implicit and unconscious. It can be expressed
through individual attitudes and actions, as well as through systemic and institutional
practices and policies that create and maintain unequal access to opportunities and
resources for different racial and ethnic groups. Racism can have harmful effects on the
individuals and groups that experience it, as well as on society as a whole.

Racism is the process by which systems and policies, actions and attitudes create
inequitable opportunities and outcomes for people based on race. Racism is more than
just prejudice in thought or action. It occurs when this prejudice – whether individual or
institutional – is accompanied by the power to discriminate against, oppress or limit the
rights of others.
