CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF MATTER
A chemical property is any of materials properties that becomes evident during a chemical reaction;
that is any quality that can be established only by changing a substance’s chemical identity. Chemical
properties cannot be determined just by viewing or touching the substance; the substance’s internal structure
must be affected for its chemical properties to be investigated.
The examples of chemical properties are heat of Combustion, is the energy releases when a compound
undergoes complete combustion. Chemical stability refers to whether a compound will heat with water or air.
Flammability refers to whether a compound will burn when expose to flame. Acidity is the quality, state or
degree of being acid. Reactivity is the state of power of being reactive or the degree to which a thing is
reactive. Toxicity is the quality or being toxic or poisonous, the quality of being harmful or unpleasant in a
pervasive or in serous way. Oxidizers are selected to provide the best combination of available oxygen, high
density, low heat of formation, and maximum gas volume in reaction with binders. Corrosiveness is the quality
of corroding or eating away, harmful or destructive. Combustible is able to catch fire burn easily, highly
combustible.
