PH on High Heat Index

Written by: Louisa Mae DC. Acosta

PAGASA announced a staggering heat index of 25-45 degrees Celsius that Filipinos are
currently experiencing, Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration

(PAGASA) defined the heat index as the "measure of the contribution that high humidity makes
with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body's ability to cool itself."

People experiencing a heat index from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius are in "danger" of suffering
from heat cramps and heat exhaustion.

A heat stroke is also possible with continued exposure to the sun, the state weather bureau
said.

“By providing our countrymen with sufficient and early information through text messages
and other technologies, we can save lives and prevent any other heat-related incidents from
occurring,” said by Sen. Mark Villar.

While we wait for the announcement of PAGASA, let us be cautious and keep our bodies
healthy to the change of the weather's climate.
