What is It

Art of the Renaissance Period

Renaissance started in 1400 until 1600, it comes from the word

“renaitre” which means “rebirth”, “revival” and “rediscovery”. The arts during
this period were characterized by calmness, beauty, scientific perspective,
deeper landscape and accurate anatomy.

Paintings during this period portray real-life figures, sfumato and

chiaroscuro technique, sculptures were realistic portraits of human beings,
and architecture during renaissance period was distinguished by symmetry
and balance.,

The Renaissance famous artworks were made by the following famous

artists:

Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (Raphael) (1483-1520)

An Italian painter and architect, Raphael’s

works were adored because of the following
characteristics: clarity of form, ease of composition,
the optic achievement of interpreting the Divine,
and integrating Christian doctrines. He established

The Art of Baroque Period

Baroque period started from 1600, right after the Renaissance period
and lasted until 1800. The word Baroque came from the Portuguese word
“barocco” meaning “irregularly shaped pearl”. The art during this period was
characterized by exaggerated emotions (forms, space, color, mass, light, and
energy).

Paintings during this period was embellished by the Catholic dogma

key elements, Sculptures were commonly huge than life-size and
Architecture was designed to produce spectacles and illusions
(Renaissance straight lines were replaced with flowing curves).

Baroque famous artworks are made by the following famous artists:

Peter Paul Rubens (1577- 1640) was a

Flemish Baroque painter, known for his paintings of
mythical and figurative subjects, landscapes,
portraits, and Counter- Reformation altarpieces. His
