CREATING THE BIG PICTURE:

A NARRATIVE REPORT ON KALAYAAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S BRIGADA ESKWELA 2021


IMPLEMENTATION

Introduction

In these challenging times of pandemic and distance learning, educators’ creativity and flexibility
are immensely brought out to bridge the students’ needs of quality education despite the given situation.
And being an important part of the continuous learning, Kalayaan Elementary School (KES), together
with its teaching force and stakeholders, united to prepare both the physical and the digital environments
school-ready for its learners as another academic year opens.

With the theme Bayanihan sa Paaralan, Brigada Eskwela 2021 from the Department of
Education’s Memorandum No. 048 s. 2021, aims to connect people – group or individual, public or
private, to come together and help create a conducive learning environment for the incoming batch of
students in the institution. Implementation and monitoring of schools is set to run from August 3 to
September 30 which covers the National Brigada Eskwela Media/Online Kick-Off Programs down to
Regional, Division, and School-Based Kick-Off Programs.

Projects
For this year’s Brigada Eskwela, KES prepared seventeen (17) projects to target: (1) collaboration
and strengthening of partnership engagements that complement the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan (BE-LCP), and (2) to ensure the delivery of quality basic education notwithstanding the
COVID-19 pandemic. Details of the projects are as follows:

PROJECT 1: Pagbasa para sa Pag-asa (For Primary Level)


• Aims to develop pupils’ ability to read and comprehend

PROJECT 2: My Reading Corner at Home (For Intermediate Level)
• Aims to inculcate pupils’ love and appreciation in reading by allocating a space or corner
for reading in their homes

• Co-chairmen: Jackelyn F. Aligante (Filipino) and Marry Ann G. Mapa (English)

PROJECT 3: Count your blessings


• Aims to help pupils gain better understanding involving mathematical problems from
Kinder through sixth grade

PROJECT 4: ALS on-the-go


• Aims to further encourage students to return to school through DepEd’s Alternative
Learning System (ALS)
• This is a joint project with Project 5.

PROJECT 5: Aksyon sa Kalayaan


• Aims to encourage students and parents to enroll through several distance learning
modalities available

PROJECT 6: Tech Forum


• Aims to help teachers and parents enroll easier using Google Forms

PROJECT 7: Green thumb in a pot
• Aims to encourage learners, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to make the most
out of the quarantine period by planting vegetables in their respective households as
part of the School-Family-Community Partnership, and a supplementary source of food
for the family as well.

PROJECT 8: Sangkap Sustansya sa Masa


• Aims to show the importance of nutritious food and proper nutrition by growing fruits
and vegetables in the comfort of their homes

PROJECT 9: Health and Wellness


• Aims to encourage everyone to be active and maintain a healthy body through
“dancercises”

PROJECT 10: Mind Talk


• Aims to conduct a webinar with the theme, “Maintaining Positivity Amidst COVID-19
Pandemic” about Psychosocial and Anti-Stress-related topics

PROJECT 11: We are GAD’s Children
• Aims to conduct a webinar which focuses on Gender and Development of students

• Aims to conduct a webinar which focuses on Gender and Development of students

• Aims to keep the school premises clean, safe, and organized to make it even more
conducive learning environment

PROJECT 14: Kapwa ko, mahal ko


• Aims to conduct and provide any assistance that can be delivered to all members of the
school community

PROJECT 15: Wall, make it incredible


• Aims to beautify the school environment especially through art by means of encouraging
stake holders donate painting materials and manpower/volunteers for the artwork

PROJECT 16: Disaster-Free Tayo
• Aims to encourage anyone to donate any personal protective equipment, first-aid, and
emergency kits

• In partnership with Red Cross Caloocan Chapter SDRRM Team and MAPEH Teachers

PROJECT 17: Back to school: Let a million flowers bloom


• Aims to encourage everyone to donate/plant sunflowers or any flowering plants
available within the area of the school (Philippine native plants are recommended such
as kamuning, katmon, gumamela, etc.)

• In partnership with EPP and Science teachers, and Grade Level Chairmen

Funds were procured through solicitation from Local Government Unit (LGU) and General
Parents and Teachers Association (GPTA) fund for school year 2021-2022. Focus of the projects revolved
around Oplan Balik-Eskwela, Urban Gardening, Mental and Psychosocial Services, Disaster
Preparedness and Parent-Teacher Partnerships. KES Creative Team was also initiated to assist the
launching of each program via Facebook Live. Following are the teachers who are part of this team:

Donations
KES teaching and non-teaching personnel are tremendously grateful for the following groups and
individuals for the support they shared whether be it financial, in-kind, or as volunteers for the projects:

Itemized breakdown of donated materials, names of donors, quantity, and cost of items are found
in Brigada Eskwela (BE) Form 5, while School Accomplishment Report for the entire duration of Brigada
Eskwela is attached in BE Form 7.

Landscaping of garden near the main gate and murals around the school are some of the on-going
projects that are being done with the hard work of teams and persons in-charge dedicated to finish the
tasks and prepare the physical facilities of the school in hopes to soon welcome KES students and hear
their happy noises around the school premises again.
