Title:

"Piczzle": An Intervention Approach in Enhancing Earth Science Knowledge for

Grade 10-Temperate, Academic Year : 2022-2023

Justification:

The study of Earth Science is a crucial subject that helps students understand

the natural world around them, including the physical, chemical, and biological processes that

shape our planet. However, many students struggle to grasp the concepts and principles of

Earth Science about Plate Tectonics and Earth’s Interior, leading to lack of understanding.

Exploring the efficacy of a strategic intervention material in enhancing Earth Science

knowledge in Grade 10-Temperate lies in the need to improve students' academic

performance in this subject. As stated by Agoritsa Makri (2017), the main objective is to

study the impact of games and simulations with regard to achieving specific learning

objectives. On balance, results indicate that games and/or simulations have a positive impact

on learning goals According to Liu, E. Z. F., & Chen, P. K. (2013) many previous studies

have demonstrated that learning motivation and efficiency can be enhanced through

educational games.

Therefore, the exploration of intervention approach in enhancing Earth Science

knowledge in Grades 10-Temperate students is a worthwhile endeavor. By using a "Piczzle

Intervention", the proponents of this study can determine whether it has a positive impact on

students' academic performance and if it can improve their understanding of Earth Science

concepts by comparing the results of their Pre and Post- tests.

Overall, this study is an important and necessary undertaking in pedagogical

perspective because it can contribute to the improvement of academic performance the

students in the said subject.
