Flashback Arrestors
A flashback arrestor or flash arrestor is a special gas safety device most commonly used in oxy-fuel
welding and cutting to stop the flame or reverse flow of gas back up into the equipment or supply
line and it prevents the user and equipment from damage or explosions.
Flashback Arrestors
Flashback arrestors are required for all oxy-fuel operations setups.
Flashback arrestor is to be located directly after the pressure gauge and before the hose
connection.
Hoses and Connections
Verify that flashback arrestor is present and in the correct location.
Examine hoses regularly for leaks, set up an inspection schedule.
Do not use unnecessarily long hoses.
Keep hoses free from kinks and away from high traffic areas.
Repair leaks promptly and properly.
Store hoses in a cool place, and protect them from hot objects, and sparks.
Do not use a single hose having more than one gas passage.
