Office of Manila City, Solutions with the help of

Technology and Science

I. Introduction
Greetings to the readers, this paper is constructed by Group 2 students of the Mapua
University which of whom are currently taking the Science and Technology course under section
A60, we would like to introduce ourselves first on alphabetic arrangement (E. Alimurong, L.
Cabando, C. Castro, E. Cavalida, C. Esteban, H. Liwanagan, J. Quito, E. Suarez, G. Tuazon)
under the advisory of Dr. Tuliao and we would also like to let the readers of this paper know that
L. Cabando is a Constituent of the Local Mayor of the city of Manila

II. Gaps
In every Local Government Units that could be seen in every area around the Philippines,
whether it is provincial, municipal, or a city, there will be Gaps upon every LGU’s system of
handling any kinds of pressuring issues in the community that has become either a hindrance or
become an ultimate concern to every citizen living in the said community. The place which we
choose in focusing our attention to in terms of LGU, is Manila where one of our members is
currently living in the city. Manila, as we all know, has a giant and clear population of people
going from Newborn up until to the Elderlies, therefore it is not a surprise that a pressuring issue
that can be seen until this day on the main capital of the Philippines, is the matter of the Ageing
Population in the country.

In most cases, people often think that Ageing population in a country seems like not a kind of a
pressuring issue nor a hindrance in society in so many ways, however it is particularly a
concerning one. An article dedicated to focusing on the issues and challenges of LGU towards
the ageing population had given proof and enough evidence on the effects of population
ageing. It had been written in the article that there are numerous amounts of issues and
challenges that this kind of situation will bring in so many various areas of all government policies.
To give an example, it greatly affects the long-term sustainability of public finances, meaning to
say that it will also hit on the budgetary growing costs which are all connected on every
functioning area of the said government policy; Those areas are the pension system, the health
care system, the social and elderly care system, the public infrastructure, and especially the
educational system in particular, etc.

Another ongoing problem is the rise of traffic within the city and along the highways that span in
the NCR region where the traffic is home to more than hundreds of thousands of commuters
and drivers every day, problems such as daily commute is a problem since most of the Local
Government ordinance are solely a patch solution and not a long term solution, as we ask
ourselves when would be the time we may find the key solution, there will always be a solution to
come up every day but also there will be another problem arises and the consequences of
going along with those ideas where technology and modernization is the primary variables that
we may need

III. Your Proposal

Our proposal composes of several actions and effective strategy towards combatting the rise of
population as well as the solutions in combatting traffic with the use of technology as we believe
we are currently behind towards in shaping in our community around technology itself when it
has been the most viable solution that is in front of our community.

III.I ADVANCE WITH AI TECHNOLOGY

With the height of the use of AI technology we could come up with a effective solutions in
proper apprehensions and features that could help the traffic law enforcement within the city AI
could also help in identifying solutions of traffic flow making the roads safe but also clear of
traffic as most of the traffic ordinance such as coding is still escapable since only a group of
people through eyesight can see and with the help of AI in scanning plate and registry we can
keep more people off the roads especially the ones with coding, AI can also be used in order to
get a faster and much more effective response call from whichever directions especially
problems like transport update for LRT and other commute services within the city.

III.II SUPPORT FROM OTHER ADVANCING COUNTRIES

Manila is also home to various nationalities and figure it is no doubt that Manila is the capital city
of the Philippines with that being said we should look forward into shaping our countries with the
help of the technology of other countries when it comes to infrastructure and other viable
solutions into making our Growing Nation a soon to be technology built country.

III.III RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE MANILA CAPITAL

The Country houses also the brightest people but in spite of this most of our best people are
forced to move to other countries due to the lack of job openings and more of
recommendation based work inside the city, this is why Manila should open it’s doors to the
brightest people in order to advance our research and development within the Capital of
Manila but also the country with that being said as manila grows more in population since the
high demand of work is in the capital of the Philippines the city must focus in its efforts in keeping
the workforce inside manila
IV. Importance
The Importance of this Paper is to let the readers know that Manila is full of problems and it
makes it hard living in the city when there are a lot of problems within the city although much of
Local LGU efforts is to deploy effective solution against the problem this solutions are but patch
solutions and long terms solution are mainly needed; as students also residing in manila we, the
researchers from Mapua University only offer this proposal from our perspective from everyday
experience but also other experience from the daily people living inside Manila and given that
our proposals also come with the effective use of technology, and If the Agency wishes to
pursue this with our help and research the impact would make a significant change in the way
we modernize and come up with viable solutions for the Capital of Manila.

V. Conclusions and Closing Salutations

We would like to thank the Local Government in looking into our solutions for effective use of
technology and should the Local Government wish to ask more questions regarding the topic at
large we may be contacted at the emails along with our names down below
