Apex Cover Separation (ACS) parachutes in cluster configurations at the Terminal Ballistics Research
Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh, on March 1 and 3, 2023.
• Under the pilot parachute test, clustered deployment of two Pilot Parachutes were simulated
and the ACS parachute test simulated the clustered deployment of two ACS parachutes under
maximum dynamic pressure conditions.
i. The Gaganyaan parachute system development was executed jointly by Vikram Sarabhai Space
Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala and Aerial Delivery Research and Development
Establishment (ADRDE), Agra,Uttar Pradesh.
ii. The project envisages demonstration of human spaceflight capability by launching a crew of 3
members to an orbit of 400 km for a 3 days mission and bringing them back safely to earth.
