Performance Task 1
FREE FALL
I. Objective: Explain uniform acceleration
II. Materials: 2 pcs of used bond paper (any paper of the same size)
notebook, 2 pcs of coin

III. Procedure:
1. Hold a piece of paper on one hand and a notebook at about 1 meter from the ground,
then drop them at the same time. Which falls to the ground faster?
Record at table 1A.
2. Crumple up one piece of paper.
3. Hold the crumpled paper and the notebook at the same height (1 meter). Drop them
at the same time. Which falls to the ground faster? Crumpled paper or notebook?
Record at table 1A
4. Repeat Step 1 but this time pair the notebook with a coin. Complete table 1A.
5. Place two coins on top (near the edge) of a table and release them at the same time.
One coin will be dropped from the table, and the other will be projected horizontally
from the table. Did the coins hit the floor at the same time? If no, which coin hit the
floor first? Record at table 1A.
6. Repeat Steps 1-5 but this time at a higher height (caution: ask for guidance from a
guardian/parent)

IV. Data and Results:
