7. Exchange of the tensioning

mechanism of the grid frame

Note
From serial number 370 of the serial changer onwards
a modification of the tensioning mechanism is not
necessary, since the most recent version should already

7.1. Remove the two countersunk screws M3 on

the base plate of the tensioning mechanism.

Remove 2x countersunk screws M3

7.2. Remove the gear motor from the base plate.

7.3. Remove the tension lever from the axle.

7.4. Unscrew the magnet holder from the grid

frame (2 x Phillips screws M4).

Note
When loosening the screws a relatively high force must
be exerted on each of the two Phillips screws. This force

7.5. Install the new magnet holder on the grid

frame.

7.6. During oscillation the magnet holder must

pass the Hall sensor centrically on the
D82 board; if necessary, bend the magnet
holder respectively.
A
7.7. Distance A between the magnet holder and
the coil form of the electromagnet on the
D81 board must be between 2.0 and 3.0mm;
if necessary, loosen the fixing screws of the
electromagnet, displace the magnet and
screw it on again. B

7.8. Distance B between the magnet holder and

the Hall sensor on the D81 board must be
between 0.5mm and 1.0mm when the grid is
tightened;
if necessary, readjust with the fixing screws of
the board (which also serve as adjusting
screws).

Note
In case the adjustment via the fixing screws of the
D82 and D81boards is not sufficient, further
adjustment can be performed by loosening the fixing
screws(4 x 2 x M3 5.5mm across flats) of the springs
on the Bucky frame. Be aware that this adjustment is
relatively complicated since it changes also the
distance of the grid frame with respect to the
Amplimat measuring chamber as well as the
oscillation direction.

7.9. Fit the new tension lever on the axle.

If necessary, exchange the present axle with
the new axle supplied.

7.10. Install the gear motor on the base plate.

Note
Usually the gear motor is in position „Grid tightened“, i.e.
when installing the gear motor make sure that also the
Bucky grid is in position “Grid tightened”.

any parts inside the serial changer such as
Amplimat measuring chamber or toothed belt
of the I/O drive in any of the operating
positions (--15°, 0°, +90°) while the I/O drive is
moved back and forth.

Note
The rubber buffer attached to the carriage of the
I/O drive must not hit the flat cable. If necessary,
displace the rubber buffer!

mechanical stop.

12.11. Position the anti-scatter grid so that the grid

bar with the tube symbol crosses the center of
the centering hole in the grid frame.
Centering hole
12.12. Tighten the four nuts M3 of the two lateral
retaining angles.

12.13. Clean the ROLLON guide of the collimator

pair near the film and slightly grease it with the
lubricant supplied. Grid bar

12.14. Install the mechanical coupling between the

motorized collimators and the drive.

12.15. Screw on the mushroom-colored narrow cover

on the operating side of the serial changer at
the Bucky frame.

12.16. Screw on the serial changer in the Bucky

frame at the position marked when the serial

12.17. Install the two anti-scatter collimators at the

two sides of the Bucky frame in such a way
that they do not touch the collimators near the
film.

12.18. Switch the system ON.

12.19. Check whether the serial changer functions

properly as follows:
-- Load cassettes of different sizes.
-- Check whether all cassette sizes are recognized
correctly on the display of the tube hand grip.
-- Select different cassette subdivisions
(2, 3, 4 and 6 subdivisions).
-- Release different exposures and exposure
series (full-size and subdivision) with the
different cassette sizes in the 0° and 88° tilting
position.
-- Check all developed exposures (full-size and
subdivision).
-- Check whether the ease of movement of the
Bucky grid is unimpaired.
Note
When subdivision exposures are concerned, the grid is
not tightened again after the first exposure but kept
oscillating electrically so that a check of the ease of
movement is relatively easy at that moment.

-- Check whether the ease of movement of the

collimators near the film is unimpaired,
especially with respect to the anti-scatter
collimators.

12.20. Check visually whether the ease of movement

of the cassette holders is unimpaired during
subdivision exposures:
-- Insert a 24x30 cm (or similar) cassette in
transverse direction with respect to the table.
-- Select subdivision 6 at the control desk of the
system.
-- Check whether the distance between left-hand
cassette holder and Amplimat measuring
chamber is at least 1mm (use a pocket light).
-- Release three exposures.
-- Check whether the distance between right-hand
cassette holder and Amplimat measuring
chamber still is at least 1mm.

12.21. Switch the system OFF and stick the label with the new code
number (new code number: 4512 131 00781) on the present old
label located at the right-hand side near the D80 board.

12.22. Push the tabletop with a second person onto

the table frame.

Note
before the first two screws M6 are tightened secure the
tabletop with a second person so that it does not roll off
the table base!

12.23. Screw in all four screws M6 to couple the

tabletop to the drive.

12.24. Install the cover panel (about 2.2m long) at the

operating side.

12.25. Install the cover panel (about 2.2m long) at the

column side.

12.26. Install the two square cover panels of the

sectional rails of the table at the column side
at the head and the foot end of the table.

12.27. Switch the system ON.

12.28. Check whether the transverse drive of the

table works properly.

12.29. Switch the system OFF.
