ADAPTIVE TEACHING GUIDE

MET # 5: Endogenic Processes

Lesson #5.1 Metamorphism

Prerequisite Content-knowledge:

 Understanding the basic concepts of endogenous and exogenous processes.

The students should show understanding of the basic concepts of metamorphic rocks which is essential in understanding and appreciating metamorphism.

Prerequisite Skill:

 Problem-solving and predicting skill

 The students are expected to show skill in problem solving and predicting outcomes skill, both are essential in developing further skills in the lesson in metamorphism.

Prerequisites Assessment:

Multiple Choice

A multiple choice assessment will be used to diagnose misconceptions, least learned and most learned concepts in the basic concepts of metamorphic rocks, endogenous and exogenous
processes.
Pre-lesson Remediation Activity:

1. For Students with Insufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):

 Graphic Organizers
The students will create a graphic organizer to map the important information they gathered from the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qa0Mt7HpGY

2. For Students with Fairly Sufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):
 Diagram completion and Concept Review

Introduction:

This part must articulate the following:

1. You will orient your students of the following:

 Time frame: 2 meetings (2 hours)
 Means of communication: google classroom
2. Present to the students the Knowledge (RUA) they are expected to gain from learning the topic/ lesson:
The students will be able to……
 Remembering: Identify the factors that drive metamorphism
 Understanding: Describe the changes in mineral components and texture of rocks due to changes in pressure and temperature (metamorphism).
 Applying: Conduct research about places in the Philippines that undergo metamorphism.
3. Inform the students with the context where they can apply their learning.
 The students will evaluate the effect of changes in mineral composition of a metamorphic rock through metamorphism.
 The students will create a field survey, where different types of metamorphism usually happens.

Student’s Experiential Learning: (Note: Use the Flexible Learning Activity Identified for the topic/lesson relative to the General Enabling Teaching Strategy)

This section is intended for the presentation guide of the lesson proper. It must highlight the chunking of the topic into essential concepts through the use of formative questions.

Chunk 1: Definition and Background of Metamorphism

Formative question: Why is metamorphism an important endogenic process?

Chunk 2: Factors that Control Metamorphism

Formative question: How are the factors of metamorphism affect the formation of a metamorphic rock?

Chunk 3 : Types of Metamorphism

Formative question: How is a metamorphic rock , affected by a type of metamorphism?

Synthesis
PRIVATE EDUCATION ASSISTANCE COMMITTEE

Provide the lesson’s synthesis by answering the formative questions in all of the lesson chunks.

RUA of a Student’s Learning:

Remembering: Name the different types of metamorphism.

Understanding: Explain how a metamorphic rock is formed?

Applying:Write a report explaining why Romblon is rich with marble. Your report must include the processes involve in the formation of metamorphic rock. Also, include the geographic location of Romblon as
basis of your discussion on your report. The report can be presented in terms of:

a.) Podcast
b.) Essay
c.) Video documentary
d.) Poster or infographic

Post-lesson Remediation Activity:

.Reading Activity

A reading activity will supplement and firm-up student’s understanding of the concepts on metamorphisms.
