In this apparently simple 3-minute talk, Dr. Laura Trice talks about the power of the magic words "thank
you" to make a friendship stronger, to repair a bond, to make sure another person knows what they
mean to you. Is it easy for people to say “thank you”? Is it difficult to be grateful? Why has our society
forgotten to be grateful?

Write a text of approximately 150 words to state your opinion. In developing your ideas you should
include new areas of vocabulary and grammar structures that you have worked with during the
course.

Personally I believe that many people have a group of people or a relative in their lives that they consider
friends and whom they value deeply, y, and would likely love for those friendships to be even stronger.
But it may seem like spending the time to cultivate a deeper relationship is a bridge too far, that it would
take immense effort, time, or planning. In reality, though, friendships are often boosted by the littlest of
things—simple efforts that may seem trivial and not take much of a commitment, and yet can have
enormous benefits. Like the magic words "thank you my friend".

But, what happen when friendships fall apart? It can feel like it’s impossible to pick up the pieces and fit
them back together. Some broken friendships are destined to stay that way. However, when you have a
special intimate friendship that brought meaning to your life, a renewal is important. 
If you have a long-lost friendship you’d like to rekindle, chances are you’ll be able to make a meaningful
reconnection.
 
First, you need to determine if a fractured friendship is worth repairing. Unhealthy relationships are not
worth it if they force you to compromise your principles. A good friend will understand and respect your
convictions. 

In my opinion, another example could be start by calling or writing a message: “I feel our friendship is
valuable to me, and I miss seeing you. Is there any way we can resolve what stands between us?” It is a
way to open the doors to reconciliation. 

Apart from that, finding out what went wrong is crucial if you want to avoid repeating the problem. We
tend to avoid diagnosing the problem. 

Viewing things in black and white seems easier and more practical. But most life, including friendships,
come in shades of grey. So don’t pretend there is no problem, get to the bottom of it together and move
forward. If a friendship can’t survive such conversation, that may be a sign it ought to end.

Our lack of gratitude in our society, however, can lurk in our mind and give us a sense, perhaps
unidentified, of incompletion, of something broken. When we do express gratitude, peace is restored. If
one did not express gratitude they would be considered uncivilized or even rude.
