What Is It
Discussion

Revision is a process of changing some specific words (especially the correct

spelling of words) in the text. It is an essential way to obtain good writing with clarity.
Clarity is the core of all writing. Writers put effort in the hopes that their words will be
read and understood. But one spelling mistake in every word may change the entire
message of the written work. Therefore, revision for writing promotes a clear and
concise output. One misspelled word can change the entire meaning of the
sentence.

6
Correct spelling is important to deliver clarity in writing. It produces concise
and clear messages. The writers written output will be recognized well by the reader
if the words are spelled correctly.
But misspelled words can give a negative effect to the reader. Misspelled
words may give misinterpretation/misunderstanding to the message the writer
wanted to say. It will create confusion to the readers because of lack of precision and
clarity of thought.
Some techniques in spelling words correctly are:
1. Find your spelling mistakes – take your writing and try to find spelling mistakes
- ask someone else to read your work and mark your errors.
2. Record the corrected spellings of words in a notebook.
3. Review the spellings regularly.
4. Consult the dictionary.
