ACTIVITY DESIGN
I. Title of Activity: SEMINAR ON LABOR EDUCATION FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS

II. Rationale:

The Work Immersion Program is one of the course requirements for SHS graduation. A SHS student
must undergo work immersion in a business organization or establishment with work requirements related
to the specialization. Through work immersion, the students are exposed to and are familiarized with the
work-related environment related to their field of specialization. It is the focal aim of the immersion program
to let the students gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and
workers; appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories taught in the classroom;
and enhance their technical knowledge and skills (DepEd, DO 30, 2017).

In line with this, the Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School – Integrated Senior High School
will conduct a LABOR EDUCATION FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS’ SEMINAR FOR GRADE 12 as part of the
learning competency stipulated in the Work Immersion subject. The aim of the seminar is for the students to
become familiar with DOLE’s services on employment facilitation, workers protection and social security
coverage for the employees to be used and applied as they go out in the institution.

Since this activity is part of the curriculum, this is designed to capacitate and empower the Grade 12
learners to experience a seminar-orientation on Labor Education and will also give avenue for them to gain
and eventually apply acquired skills for their future endeavors.

III. Objectives:

At the end of the orientation-seminar the students will be able:

a. to to be oriented on the different work ethics as well as the rights and duties of the employees and
employers, confidentiality of the workplace and effective conflict resolution;
b. to be acquainted with the Occupational Health Safe and Healthy Standards;
c. to provide avenue for the learners to gain knowledge in job requirements preparation; and
d. to prepare the students for job seeking endeavors.
