Have you ever wondered why blue symbolizes sadness? Because how come blue signifies
sadness? It can be a different hue, like black. But why is it really blue? No one knows, I assume.
Have you ever had an encounter where your feelings were lost? Or perhaps you’ve had confusion
about your feelings? Or maybe there is this one instance where you feel that your feelings are
unknown? It is kind of hard, isn't it? Having feelings but not knowing how to handle them. With
that being said, probably you have ever looked at someone and thought, "What’s running inside
their head?"
Well, the movie Inside out revolves around the mind of a 11 years old girl named Riley. She
grew up having a wonderful family and friends but eventually moved out. With that, the movie
introduced us to five emotions which are Joy, the bubbly one. Second, sadness, she’s full of
pessimism. Next one is Disgust, the judgemental one. Then, we have Fear, the nervous
wreck. And lastly, we have Anger, the short-tempered one. With these five emotions
mentioned, it shows that over the past 11 years of Riley’s life she felt numerous emotions
other than joy and sadness. This movie also provides detailed observations of experiencing
mixed emotions that all people could probably relate to. The movie quote, "The foot is
down, the foot is down," stated that our emotions change and mature as we age. As the
days go by, we constantly come across situations that help us mature our emotions and
positively handle our situations using our emotions. Another quote from the movie that
encourages me to keep an open mind is "I know you don’t want me to, but I miss home."
Most people thought that it was simply home. At home, you can find
anything—appliances, food, and chores. However, when you dig deeper, you can see what
home Riley’s referring to. She misses the warmth of her home, which is her family; the
longing she has for her friends makes her feel numerous emotions. After everything they
went through, their family became much stronger.
With that all being said, allow me to end this by saying that allow yourself to pour out
your emotions when everything’s become unreasonable. You are not weak for showing
your emotions because I believe that once you pour out your emotions, joy comes after.
Nothing is wrong about being sad because it symbolizes that you are strong enough to
keep going. Keep in mind that your feelings are valid in every aspect, do not hesitate to
voice out if it will help to keep you at ease. Always remember that nothing beats when you
allow yourself to free your emotions. Let the joy break through on what is trying to hold
on to you.
