4. RELEVANT DRAWINGS AND WORKS SPECIFICATION
SPECIFICATION:
The work shall be done as per the approved GFC Layout plan of the project and
other relevant structural and architectural drawing of the project.
Work shall be follows according to the IS:6313 Part2
Part2-2001
2001 and will follow the
procedures as per this code.
5. WORK PROCEDURE:
As per IS:6313.2.2001
Treatment of top Surface of Plinth Filling:
The top surface of the consolidated earth within plinth walls shall be treated with chemical emulsion at
the rate of 5 l/m2 of the surface before the sand bed or sub grade is laid.
If the filled earth has been well rammed and the surface d
does
oes not allow the emulsion to seep through,
holes up to 50 to 75 mm deep at 150 mm centers both ways may be made with 12 mm diameter mild
steel rod on the surface to facilitate saturation of the soil with the chemical emulsion.
Treatment at Junction of the wall and the floor:
Special care shall be taken to establish continuity of the vertical chemical barrier on inner wall surface
from ground level up to level of the filled earth surface.
Rodding if necessary to facilitate soaking, shall be carried out along the junction of wall & floor at
150mm interval and upto 300mm down
down.
5
The chemical emulsion shall be poured along the wall at the rate of 7.5 l/m2 of vertical wall or column
surface so as to soak the soil right to the bottom. The soil should be tamped back into place after the
operation.
Treatment of Soil along external perimeter of building:
After the building is complete, the earth along the external perimeter of the building should be rodded at
intervals of 150 mm and to a depth of 300 mm.
The rods should be moved backword and forward parallel to the wall to break up the earth and chemical
emulsion poured along the wall at the rate of 7.5 l/m2 of the vertical surface. After the treatment the
earth should be tamped back into place.
Treatment of Soil Surrounding Pipes, Wastes and Conduits:
When pipes, wastes and conduits enter the soil inside area of the foundations, soil surrounding the point
of entry shall be loosened around each such pipe, waste or conduit for a distance of 150 mm and to a
depth of 75 mm before treatment is commenced.
6. QUALITY MEASURES:
Treatment should not be carried out when it is raining or when the soil is wet with rain or sub-
soil water. The foregoing requirements applies also in the case of treatment to the filled earth
surface within the plinth area before laying the sub-grade for the floor
Ensure Proper depth and whole spacing for effective treatment of soil.
Once formed, treated soil barriers shall not be disturbed. If, by chance, treated soil barriers are
disturbed, immediate steps shall be taken to restore the continuity and completeness of the
barrier system.
The chemical emulsions described shall be applied uniformly at the prescribed rate in all the
stages of the treatment
Performance warranty shall be submitted after completion of treatment.
6
7. SAFETY:
Site Engineer and Safety Supervisor shall carry out the safety site inspections to ensure that
safety requirements laid out in the safe work plan are followed before, during and after the
work. Safety Engineer / Supervisor shall review HSE Plan and secure Work Permit shall be
obtained prior to start of block work.
Wherever necessary barricading and signage’s will be provided for work area. The checks
shall be conducted as & when necessary.
All the chemicals mentioned are poisonous and hazardous to health. These chemicals can
have an adverse effect upon health when absorbed through the skin, inhaled as vapours or
spray mists or swallowed.
Persons handling or using these chemicals should be warned of these dangers and advised
that absorption through the skin is the most likely sources of accidental poisoning.
These chemicals are brought to the site in the form of emulsifiable concentrates. The
containers should be clearly labelled and should be kept securely closed.
