1. What do the following state about women’s rights in the Philippines?

a. Article II, section 14 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution


- Under 1987 Philippine Constitution in Article 2 Section 14- the state recognizes the role of women
in nation-building, and shall ensure the fundamental equality before the law of women and men.
b. RA 3815 Article 245
- Under Revise Penal Code of the Philippine in Article 245 section 4. – abuses against chastity –
Penalties of prision correccional in its medium and maximum periods and temporary special
disqualification shall be imposed:
1. Upon any public officer who shall solicit or make immoral or indecent advances to a
woman interested in matters pending before such offer for decision, or with respect to
which he is required to submit a report to or consult with a superior officer;
2. Any warden or other public officer directly charge with the care the custody of prisoners or
person under arrest who shall solicit or make immoral or indecent advances to a woman
under his custody.
If the person solicited be the wife, daughter, sister or relative within the same degree by
affinity any person in the custody od such warden or officer, the penalties shall be prision
correccional in its minimum and medium periods and temporary special disqualification.

- An act declaring sexual harassment unlawful in the employment, education or training
environment, and for other purposes.

- Is a comprehensive women’s human rights law that seeks to eliminate discrimination against
women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino women,
especially those in marginalized sector.

- Responsible parenthood and reproductive health act of 2012
- The law aims to empower the Filipino people, especially women and youth, through informed
choice and age-and development-appropriate education.

2. An elegy for a woman of no importance. Read, and answer the following;

a. How are women (like the woman in the poem) treated in Iraqi culture?
- The women for whom the elegy was written lived a rather pitiful life and was little mourned in
death. As the title itself states she is a “woman of no importance”. the image of a “vague from
passing in the lane” as the only memory of the woman left behind. And no one is upset by tidings
of her death. The woman died in a tragic death, but her death caused no sorrow.
b. Which lines can best describe the woman in the poem?
- “When she dies no face turned pale, no lips trembled”
c. What is the tone of the poem?
- The tone of the poem was a personal
d. Relate the life of Nazik al Malaika to the life of the woman in the poem.
- The relation of the author life in woman in the poem is the, how they will treat as equal rights like
men. And she wants the freedom and attention of the people around us. she spoke for women’s
right, calling out the hypocrisy and double standard of the patriarchy society.
e. Write a two-stanza poem about a woman and her role in society.

Men and women don’t have the same rights


The past, women can’t make decisions
As time goes by, women keep fighting generation by generations
Until the freedom and rights is in their hands.

Having same equality and rights


Women can freely express their thoughts and feelings
Men and women bring closer others
Because of the purpose gave us
