INTRODUCTION

Flooding is the great overflow of water on a place that is usually dry . Floods can occur along
river or the coast and on the land.

Some areas in the world prone to flooding are the Ganges River, Deltar Vallsy , the Yangtze
or Chang Jiang River in China the Mississippi in the USA and Po in Italy.

In Africa parts such as central north and southern part of Africa face a lot of effects because
of floods.

In the the first months of 2009 Zambia experienced the worst floods in 40years causing loss
of live , displacing over 20,000 families and damaging agricultural fields , roads and buildings
.In Zambia floods have affected thousands in southern province on 20th January of 2022 an
estimate of 15,000people got affected

The City of Lusaka experienced above normal rainfall which resulted in the unplanned
settlement around the city especially those of poor or no drainage systems. Most houses in
Lusaka’s Misisi ,Frank, Jack, Chawama, Kuku and John Howard compound are the most
affected compounds during the rainy seasons .

Floods can lead to a lot of disasters some which are wterbon diseases such as cholera e.t .c.
