PREFACE

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.,

All praise to Allah S. W. T. for His permission.

Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia and the Association
for Researcher of Skills and Vocational Training (ARSVOT) Malaysia in collaboration with
Consortium of Malaysian Universities (CMU), SEAMEO Regional Centre for Special Educational
Needs (SEAMEO SEN), Malaysia, International STEM Association, MAS Giresources (MG),
Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation, Satbayev University - Kazakhstan, and Todox
Digital Network have successfully organised the second International Innovation ARSVOT
Malaysia (IAM2022). The success in organising this event is very significant to our future
researchers and knowledge seekers to share their research findings and improve the quality of
their education.

I would like to congratulate all participants and presenters who took the opportunity to enhance
their results and findings with the latest research at this international ceremony. I wish the
researchers will apply the knowledge as reference material and utilise it to develop national
education. Besides, IAM2022 allow us to get online exposure during the pandemic of COVID-
19. It also assists us in finding another initiative to exchange great ideas and knowledge with
each other virtually. It is very significant as it is an initial step of preparation towards the Industrial
Revolution 4.0.

Finally, I hope the publication of this IAM2022 proceedings book can be used as secondary data
in the development of research in the future and contribute to the academic reference materials
from various fields, also as reference material in strengthening the Malaysia’s education quality.
May our great effort in producing this book of proceedings remain continuous and I am confident
this book will be able to give a huge impact in Malaysia’s education.

Thank you.

Abstract

The establishment of Department of Skills Development (DSD) under the Ministry of

Human Resources (MoHR) Malaysia, is for the purpose of formulating, promoting,
and coordinating Malaysia's vocational and industrial training strategy that is in
parallel with the country's technological and economic development needs. The
implementation of all matters related to this Department is in accordance with the
National Skills Development Act 652 (NASDA). The National Skills Development
Council (NSDC) was established to advice on matters pertaining to skills
development and approve the National Occupational Skills Standards. DSD is
headstrong on moving forward with many initiatives to cater for the current and future
requirements ensuring development skilled workforce. Thus, DSD has taken a much
open and flexible approach considering it’s stakeholder’s feedback. Among these
initiatives are micro credential, digital certificate and digital batch. This allows for
both long and also short term and specialized programmes to adapt to requirements
by the industry and training providers. DSD has undertaken to manage, plan and
carry out the Single TVET Rating system which is implemented by various TVET
agencies in Malaysia. Moving forward DSD has undertaken the development of
TVET Big Data as part of MySPIKE to enable integration among agencies and
establish a centralize database for TVET. The circumstances worldwide have
created a range of existing and new jobs that require digital skills. As digital
technologies have notably begun to play an even more critical role in the economy,
it is increasingly clear that there is a real need to prepare talent.

Abstract

Innovation in education often is associated with efforts focused on high-technology

innovation to help learners in making significant progress in terms of both access to,
and the quality of, education. However, the marginalized group such as learners
with disabilities may not reap the gains from digital based high-technology
innovation. The digital divide has been one of the factors in exacerbating inequality
and exclusion as it has resulted in an estimated 40 percent of disadvantaged
learners in low- and middle-income countries being unsupported in their education
(World Bank, 2020). Learners with disabilities are likely to face more significant
barriers in accessing quality education as they require support services for physical,
emotional, intellectual and social development. Following the commitment to
achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goal 4, this presentation
tries to shed light on innovation for the foundations as the strategy for supporting
inclusive innovation. Innovation for the foundations strategy typically uses low-tech
innovation that aims to provide accessible materials which are directed towards
solving issues for the marginalized or unreached group in the society. Examples of
low-tech assistive technologies to provide support services for learners with
disabilities are used to illustrate how inclusive educational innovation can bridge the
gap for learners with disabilities to inclusive and equitable quality education.

Abstract

The ecological systems developed by Bronfenbrenner views a person's environment

as a complex system of relationships affected by multiple levels of the surrounding
environments, from the immediate settings of a family to the broad cultural values,
laws, and customs. One of the five different systems introduced by Bronfenbrenner
is the Exosystem. The Exosystem is the third level component of the ecological
systems that includes both formal and informal social structures which indirectly
influence a person’s development. It is the process of development that develops
between the individual and the environment in which the person does not actively
participate in the settings or events but the environment has a profound effect on
the person’s development. The character of an individual will be shaped by the
surrounding environment. This paper will discuss the environment of the
revolutionary 4.0 era that contributes towards the ecological systems of students in
Malaysia. Research on three aspects namely education, social media and social
challenges will be detailed. This method of study uses a documentary analysis
based on Bronfenbrenner's writings. The novelty of this study is its combination of
Industry 4.0 and its technologies that indirectly mould a person’s character to create
a sustainable Industry 4.0 generation.

Abstract

The paper presents research on processing of pyrite slag, a technogenic waste

generated during the roasting of pyrite concentrate in the production of sulfuric acid.
A complex, waste-free technological scheme of pyrite cinders processing with
obtaining concentrates of noble, non-ferrous metals and cast iron has been
developed. The novelty of the technology is the method of preliminary hydrothermal
chemical activation in a solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate that promotes
structural and phase changes. As a result of cinder leaching after activation in
sulfuric acid solution the extraction of non-ferrous metals increased by 15-20%
compared to leaching without activation. Selective concentrates of non-ferrous
metals were extracted by the method of stage neutralization of leaching solution.
The forms of gold presence in ore and nonore minerals were established. The
extraction of noble metals from the cake of pyrite cakes by electrochlorination
method has been studied. The degree of gold leaching was 89.7%, silver - 42.5%.
The method of sorption on synthetic sorbents and activated carbon was used for
gold concentration.

Abstract

The applied of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics (STEAM)

plus Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) especially Internet of Things (IoT) had enable
the introduction of something novelty through new ideas, method or device
enhancement. This evolves an action or process of taking a look at old version and
converting into better and fresher outlooks e.g., Machine Retrofitting projects. The
combination of the new skills set with traditional Technical, Vocational, Education
and Training (TVET) skills would foster and better equip graduates to position
themselves as market ready for IR4.0. Basic belief at National Youth Skills Institutes
(ILKBS), Ministry of Youth and Sports were that technology & innovation will guide
and expose trainees to apply gadget/project in their Smart Digital Farming projects.
Interestingly, this could be usable to the community of applied practices that leads
to product patent and commercialization. Obviously, COVID-19 had increase the
usage e.g. Online Learning, Simulation, Virtual Reality etc. which were the
cornerstone to creation of the new instructional delivery. Moreover, embedding the
TVETpreneurship contents such as Incubator programs and Mybizhub@ILKBS
allow students and graduates to explore markets trends, consider business ideas,
strategies through pre-calculated risks and gets a taste of what it is like to start on
TVET based business venture. Importantly, these effort ensure students to
apply/use their TVET knowledge and competency to become an innovator rather
than merely end user or job creators instead of job seekers.

Abstract

Due to disruptive digitalisation technology and pandemics, the market and economy
have changed drastically due to technological changes in manufacturing,
communication, education, tourism, the health sector, etc. Artificial Intelligent (AI)
has been at the forefront of new inventions in the critical sector. Its application has
become better at deciding decisions by robots alongside human interaction. These
future workplace norms require a model that allows a new talent
(apprentices/students) to learn about the actual practical aspect of the industry's
work process. Workplace supervisors or engineers monitor talent development. This
new domain or reformed learning and teaching approach require progressive
interactive collaboration. All parties must gel experience-based workplaces and
systematic theory-based knowledge at schools, training institutions, and higher
institutions. Holistically, action learning in the workplace will enhance the theoretical
knowledge learned. Learning arenas and corporate organisations must collaborate
to support the work process-oriented approach. This replaces the old idea of school
subjects using a new delivery system, the National Dual Training System (NDTS).
An apprenticeship program.

Keusahawanan adalah proses pembentukan idea-idea dalam bentuk perniagaan

dengan memperkenalkan barang, perkhidmatan dan teknologi baru ke pasar.
Terdapat banyak kajian membincangkan kelebihan menjadi usahawan.
Keusahawanan bukan sekadar membentuk perniagaan lain tetapi ianya dianggap
sebagai penggerak ekonomi masyarakat kita dan negara. Keusahawanan bukan
keusahawanan.

Abstract

The usability of suitable pedagogical strategies and activities in the classroom is a

vital key in Malaysian education. Teachers need the transition from the conventional
pedagogical approaches to digitalization approaches with student-centred. The
teacher should move faster from the pedagogy, andragogy to heutagogy approach,
focusing on technology integration in teaching and learning. This article is focused
on developing the heutagogical and technological practices in Next Generation
Learning Spaces using the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM). Thirteen experts in
curriculum, pedagogical and technology are involved in this research. The threshold
value for the accepted elements for pedagogy strategies is 0.133 and the value (d)
construct is 0.153 for teaching and learning activities. Hence the value (d) construct
for the online tutorial is 0.050 and for online learning, the value (d) construct is 0.177.
Therefore, the threshold value described the (d) value is lower than 0.2 (d ≤ 0.2),
which shows the acceptable elements indicator in FDM. The overall findings
demonstrated the experts consensus range between 75% to 100%. The value of α-
cut for acceptable elements also shows ≥ 0.5 , which is a range value between 0.792
to 0.967. The defuzzification process will shift the ranking of the elements in
developing the NGLS framework in teachers’ pedagogy and technological practices.

Abstract

Active and passive voice is one of the grammar skills embedded in the Polytechnic
syllabus under the topic ‘Process and Procedure’. In Politeknik Balik Pulau, students
often encounter problem in understanding how to change from active voice to
passive voice. It has been a challenge for the English lecturers to help students
understand the topic without much exercises. Students need more practice and
application; how to identify, practice, and produce the passive voice. In the 21st
century learning, educational games integration has witnessed a large development.
Hence, since the researchers are the people directly involved in the teaching and
learning process, it is reasonable for them to design their own games application,
‘Oh, My Tenses!’. In doing so, they will have no difficulty in embedding the content
of a specific curriculum into the gaming sequence. The aim of this study is to make
learning as engaging as possible through gamification. This game application was
applied to 30 Semester One students of Politeknik Balik Pulau to see the
effectiveness of the integration of game application method in understanding how to
change from active to passive voice. The data collection was gathered through pre
and post-test after undergone four weeks of intervention. The findings revealed that
the use of game application ‘Oh, My Tenses!’ aided learners in their learning
process. To conclude, this research is hoped to add knowledge and ideas for
educators to create a successful learning tool in the classroom.

Abstract

Taxonomy is the principles of terminology, rules, and practices in the classification

of organisms. In education, taxonomy is the model used to analyze the field of
education. Bloom's Taxonomy puts much emphasis on cognitive or knowledge. One
major drawback is the lack of Bloom's taxonomy attention to the affective and
psychomotor domains. However, Bloom's taxonomy is not sufficient to explain the
classification of vocational domain. Therefore, the aim of this study was to classify
the vocational domain and proposed a new taxonomy. The methodology of the study
using the Delphi technique in which the interview along with seven experts in the
field of vocational education has been carried out to obtain a consensus view on the
development of vocational taxonomy. Interviews have identified and confirmed six
main domains of knowledge, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, visualization,
problem-solving and inventive skills. The findings will form the item interview
questionnaire for use in the next round of sessions. Interview data were analyzed
using a thematic approach. The second round, third and fourth were analyzed using
descriptive statistics, the score mode, median and inter-quartile range (IQR). The
findings of the survey by interviews and questionnaires have identified and verified
six main vocational taxonomy domains, namely; knowledge, gross motor skills, fine
motor skills, visualization, problem solving and inventive skills. The implication of
this study is that vocational taxonomy is able to give impacts in the vocational field
in terms of curriculum development, teaching and learning, practical and
assessment.

Abstract

Bicycles are a tool that has grown rapidly in the technology of its use that is so
widespread no matter where and the purpose of its use. One of the technologies
that have been adapted to the use of bicycles is the use of electric motors to help
reduce the use of rider energy. Various types of electric motors can be installed on
bicycles. Electric motors such as AC motors and conventional DC motors are less
suitable as there are certain disadvantages in the cause of their operation and result
in adverse effects such as increased maintenance costs. Advances in BLDC motor
technology provide alternative methods that can be designed for use on bicycles.
Besides the advantages of BLDC motor, smaller volume, high force, simple system
structure, variable speed, higher reliability, and free maintenance due to its
construction. Motor designs mostly on existing bikes can produce a torque of 8 to
10 Nm and are designed for single rider use only. The performance of electric
bicycles needs to be improved in terms of torque to enable their usage on the
surface of more hilly trails and bear the load of more than one rider. To design 15
Nm BLDC motor for electric bicycle application using the different number of turns
and motor sizing approaches to strengthen the magnetic field and increase torque
developed. The performance of the motor's design in terms of cogging torque,
magnetic flux density, flux linkage, flux leakage, back EMF, torque, and speed will
be verified using the 2D finite element method. The motor can be operated at 100
rpm speed and 15 Nm torque for 250-Watt power rated by evaluating this design.

Abstract

This study is done to evaluate the structural performances of bolted timber

connections in local hardwoods. In Sarawak, Belian hardwood is typically used to
construct the floor and wall diaphragm for unreinforced masonry (URM) buildings.
Unfortunately, there is a lack of experimental data on bolted connection of Belian
hardwoods. This gap in experimental data might lead to difficulties in designing
bolted timber connections for strengthening purposes. Therefore, the study was
carried out to evaluate the existing equations in predicting the bolted connection in
Belian hardwood. A calibration factor for Belian hardwood will be provided to
optimise the use of the current design equation in predicting the row shear failure
mode. The European Yield Model (EYM) and Malaysia Standard (MS) will also be
compared to the experimental results to verify the suitable equation to predict the
strength of the ductile mode of failure. From the comparison between experimental
versus prediction values, EYM and Row Shear equation were acceptable to predict
the bearing and row shear failure while the MS was found too conservative with a
range from 0.16 to 0.25 compared to the 5th percentile experimental results.

Abstract

COVID-19 has an enormous impact on the economy, social, and education system
of the country. Traditionally, cinematography, music, drama and theatre, animation,
fine arts and other applied and creative arts students were required to perform
hands-on tasks during the learning session. However, due to the Movement Control
Order (MCO), they have to adapt to a new learning method which has been switched
from blended to fully online learning. Hence, the main objective of this study is to
assess the association of demographic factors on the psychological status of art
students in online learning. This quantitative research used the 12-items
Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-12) questionnaire. A total of 161 first-
year arts students who experienced online learning at the University Malaysia
Sarawak (UNIMAS) participated in this study. The demographic profiles were
analysed through descriptive and correlational analysis. The result yielded that the
number of family members shows a significant difference in stress levels among
these first-year students. Hence, it can be concluded that the higher the number of
family members living in the same residence, the higher the tendency for the student
to experience negative psychological effects.

Abstract

The extensive use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture poses serious collateral

problems such as environmental pollution, pest resistance development and food
safety decline. Researches focused on developing organic fertilizers from waste to
partially replace chemical fertilizer use is increasing due to the requirement of
sustainable agriculture development. Therefore, a pot experiment was carried out
to study the effect of organic fertilizer made from seaweed and shrimp waste in
improving crop growth and soil pH in green mustards. Three treatments were set
up: seaweed and shrimp waste fertilizer (SSF), organic fertilizer (OF) and chemical
fertilizer (CF). Although the SSF treatment had the highest number of leaves and
plant height, ANOVA showed no significant differences between the three
treatments. Soil pH in the SS treatment (pH= 7.43) was also higher than OF (pH=
6.49) and CF (pH= 7.07) though no significant differences were observed.
Therefore, the fertilizer produced using seaweed and shrimp waste is comparable
to other organic and chemical fertilizer and is suitable for growing leafy vegetables.
The production and use of organic fertilizers made from seaweed extract and shrimp
head waste can be a new wave of organic fertilizer in promoting plant growth and
increasing crop yields.

Abstract

This paper aims to propose a security solution for mobile applications, specifically
for Android users. Recently, there have been many cases of loss of mobile devices
since the advent of the new norm, namely during the COVID-19 pandemic season.
This will have an impact on the victim, as it will result in the loss of sensitive personal
information. Therefore, the community must always take precautions to protect
personal data from cases of data loss. With this increasingly advanced technology,
an application namely ISY Mobile Crypt (IMC), was developed. This mobile security
application can store personal data and, in the event of a loss of device or data being
compromised, be restored. The IMC was developed using the Rapid Application
Development (RAD) approach. The IMC can help with encrypting and decrypting
data, and such data can be obtained through Firebase. This application assists
Android users by allowing them to increase the security of their data by converting
plaintext to an alternative type of ciphertext. The IMC requires a key to store data as
well as encrypt and decrypt it. In conclusion, the application can benefit Android
users by keeping their data safe and accessible in the form of images and text.
Without a key set, no one can access their personal data if their phone is lost or
stolen.

Abstract

The issue of climate change has received global attention and is a pressing issue
that needs to be addressed by all countries. The increase in global temperature not
only threatens the balance of natural ecosystems but also the food supply chain and
living environment. The Greenhouse gas emissions emitted from industrial
production are one of the main causes of climate change. Therefore, it is necessary
to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the manufacturing processes. The
industrial society pursues efficiency but such excessive pursuit of efficiency
highlights the problem of environmental degradation. It is gradually becoming
apparent that the problem of environmental degradation is brought out by the
excessive pursuit of efficiency. How to strike a balance between efficiency and the
environment is a question worthy of study. In this research, a mathematical model
of scheduling is constructed in the working environment of job shop. Considering
two different machine speeds and energy consumption constraints, a reasonable
speed regulation strategy is designed, and three heuristic algorithms are proposed
to solve the problem to find an efficient solution so a balance between completion
time and energy consumption can be achieved. Results show that the proposed
adjustment speed strategy and algorithm can quickly obtain a satisfactory solution
in a short time.

Abstract

With the growing demand of economically feasible, clean, and renewable energy,
the use of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems is increasing. This project can facilitate
users to measure the angle of solar panels for various types. The solar panels that
will be used for this project are polycrystalline, non-crystalline, and amorphous. In
addition, this project is presented to study the angle of a solar panel. The three solar
panels used for this project are silicon-based solar panels. Otherwise, this project
includes research with respect to the differences between solar panels that have
different efficiencies. From other dimensions, this project has a series and parallel
connection as a basis to obtain the value of voltage, current and the efficiency
produced. This project aims to get the optimum value from the series and parallel
connection and then can get the values of current, voltage, and angle for
polycrystalline, non-crystalline, and amorphous. Many Malaysians do not know in
depth about silicon-based solar panels, but the current generation uses solar panels
photovoltaic either at home or elsewhere to save costs without knowing the pros and
cons and efficiency. The purpose of this project is to find out about the angle and
efficiency of a solar panel in order to achieve the objectives of this solar trainer
project. The angular values of a solar panel can adjust using an angle protector,
then current and voltage values will be displayed on the power meter.

Abstract

With the development of science and technology and the improvement of production
technology, In Taiwan, both people's livelihood electricity and industrial electricity
consumption have hit a new high in electricity consumption over the years.
Therefore, energy-saving has become an issue that cannot ignored today. In the
production environment of the factory, flexible flow shop production is a common
production mode, during the production process of the machine, the problem of
deterioration also occurs constantly. Restoring the performance of the machine to
the initial state through maintenance can ensure the efficiency of production. If we
can properly arrange the maintenance time of the machine under the appropriate
time-of-use electricity price, it will not only save energy and electricity for the factory
but also maintain the production efficiency of the machine. This study will focus on
machine maintenance and time-of-use, and consider the limitations of maintenance
time, electricity cost, and related regulations in a flexible process production
environment. We compare the two algorithms with the basic genetic algorithm
without maintenance to establish reasonable scheduling in production scheduling
and minimize the cost of electricity and maintenance. It is found that both algorithms
show significant results in terms of effectiveness, which means that the
maintenance-compliant scheduling is indeed optimized in terms of maintenance cost
and cost savings, and that the proposed maintenance strategy and algorithm can
be quickly and satisfactorily solution in a short period of time.

Abstract

While visual and auditory sensory experiences have been used extensively in the
sales arena, much of the work in the field of olfaction has investigated the effects of
environmental stimuli in environments such as hospitals, housing projects, and
various types of institutions, rather than in environments of primary interest to
retailers such as the sales arena. To this end, this study investigated the effect of
changing ambient scents in retail settings on product perception prices, using
lavender, eucalyptus, odorless, and grapefruit as odor conditions, as well as the
effect of adding variables such as gender, product involvement, centrality of visual
product aesthetics (CVPA) interference. The results of the study show that there are
significant differences in consumer perceptions of price under different ambient
scents, especially among women, with different levels of product involvement and
aesthetics, as well as with personal preferences. Therefore, this study provides
different ambient scents that can be used as a reference for physical home
furnishings retailers to adjust the ambient scents for consumers with different levels
of involvement, gender, product involvement, centrality of visual product aesthetics
(CVPA), to enhance consumer perceptions of price and promote consumer

Abstract

One of the most important components of mathematics is problem solving, but it is a

difficult ability to teach. Students find problem solving particularly difficult in Integral
Calculus. Integral Calculus is part of a compulsory mathematics course called
Mathematics Engineering 2 for engineering students in the Malaysian Polytechnic
education system. Students’ difficulties in learning integration are often related to
problem solving and conceptual understanding. In addition, students find it difficult to
solve problem-solving related questions. Critical thinking is essential to problem solving
and competence in problem solving necessitates critical thinking. Educators should
create a great deal of opportunity to encourage students to solve problems-solving
tasks that require critical thinking. Hence, this research tries to develop a Critical
thinking learning strategy called CThink and to test its effectiveness in enhancing
students’ problem-solving ability when solving Integral Calculus topics as compared to
the traditional teaching method (TRad). This study applied the Analyse, Design,
Develop, Implement and Evaluate or ADDIE model to develop the CThink strategy. A
mixed method approach encompassing quasi-experimental techniques and interviews
was adopted. Two groups of students from a polytechnic participated in the research
to create the experimental (CThink) (n=34) and control (TRad) (n=33) groups.
Enhancement in students' problem-solving ability was analysed using the mean score
in the pre-test and post-test. The major studies revealed that the mean scores of
students who were introduced to CThink are significantly higher than those who were
introduced to TRAD in the post-test t(55.16) =7.11, p<.05. Specifically, the questioning
given in the learning strategy can serve as a guideline to improve students’ ability to
think and focus on the problem-solving tasks. The study's findings also include showed
the benefits of using the CThink strategy to enhance problem-solving skills in Integral
Calculus. In addition, parametric tests revealed that CThink students demonstrated
significantly better mean scores in the post-test in comparison to the TRad group. This
suggests that students' problem skills ability in the CThink group showed greater
improvement.

Abstract

Sugarcane bagasse ash is a by product of sugar factories found after burning

sugarcane bagasse which itself is found after the extraction of all economical sugar
from sugarcane. The disposal of this material is already causing environmental
problem around the sugar factories. On the other hand, the main material used in
most of the water filters like charcoal is literally expensive. Sugarcane bagasse is a
very good fibrous organic waste beside have a very high content of carbon. This
research will be investigate the effectiveness of sugarcane bagasse as a
replacement of charcoal in water filter. Other than that, the study is to increase the
usage of sugarcane bagasse and reduce the number of organic waste produce by
the industry. Raw bagasse is used to determine the effectiveness of sugarcane
bagasse as material to filter water in an efficient way which is in this research, 0%,
50%, 75% and 100% of bagasse is used. The research is done with different weight
of bagasse and different weight of char coal. As a result, sugarcane bagasse can
filter water from unwanted particles because of the high carbon content. The particle
size is one of the factors effecting the filtration process. The smaller particle size
have greater surface area have higher filtration capacity. Raw bagasse can filter
more efficiently compare to the charcoal. This research is all about ensuring filters
made from sugar cane can filter the water. Then save the cost of construction by
reusing waste material, sugar cane. Next, ensuring that water pollution can be
mitigated and can improve water quality. The water quality has been proven by
several tests such as PH test, temperature test and DO test. The conclusion it is
