Objectives of Industry Immersion

In general, the in-campus and off-campus industry immersion at Mindoro State

University - Main Campus and Mindoro State University - Bongabong Campus aimed to

increase the student trainees' competence and efficiency in the application of the theories and

principles related to Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering by having them work on various

projects in an actual workplace.

In-Campus

Specifically it aimed to instruct the trainees to be able to:

1. Set-up, operate, and maintain a total station;

2. Perform simple surveying and collect data for the MinSU – Main Campus Development

Plan;

3. Plot the data gathered through the utilization of AutoCAD;

4. Measure different dimensions of several buildings in the campus;

5. Design a building’ perspective view through the use of SketchUp; and

6. Perform basic welding and construct a simple table frame.

Off-Campus

Specifically it aimed to instruct the trainees to be able to:

1. Perform simple surveying and collect data for the MinSU – Bongabong Campus

Development Plan;

2. Work and adjust in a new environment; and

3. Encourage the development of work ethics including professionalism, independence,

perseverance, consistency, leadership, and interpersonal relationships with coworkers,

staffs, and coordinators.

Period and Location of the Industry Immersion

The in-campus training was conducted at Mindoro State University - Main Campus,

Alcate, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro from July 18, 2022 until August 24, 2022 wherein the

trainees spent eight hours of training per day, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm (morning) and

1:00pm-5:00pm (afternoon), excluding all weekends and holidays. However, within that

duration, some of the trainees were sent off-campus at Mindoro State University - Bongabong

Campus, Labasan, Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro from August 15, 2022 until August 19, 2022

wherein the trainees also spent eight hours of training per day, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-

12:00pm (morning) and 1:00pm-5:00pm (afternoon), excluding all weekends and holidays.
Description of Activities Performed (Welding)

Day one of welding was mostly orientation, lecture, familiarization with different

equipment, and introduction to different safety rules. These are important in order to ensure the

safety of every trainee and also because welding includes the use of hazardous tools including

grinder, welding machine, cutter, and etc.

Thereafter, the trainees were taught about the basics of welding. They gained knowledge

about the different techniques and processes of welding. Hence, they kept on training in order to

strengthen their newly acquired skill, and for the rest of the week, they worked on constructing a

simple table frame.

 General Orientation of the student trainees

 Divided the whole team into three (3) sub-groups with three (3) members each,

for surveying schedule

 Assigned on which week will every group handle the surveying task because of

limited resources (total station & surveying rod), and also to have an organized

group transition

July 20, 2022

 Introduction of basic SketchUp to the student trainees

 Practiced using SketchUp through performing basic commands like line,

rectangle, circle, move, offset, push/pull, orbit, pan, and etc.

 Assigned the different MinSU main campus buildings for each student trainee to

draw using SketchUp

July 21, 2022

 Orientation of surveying to the first group of trainees

 Familiarized to the total station, its different parts and their specific functions

 Performed practice surveying on control 6 in MinSU main campus

 Gathered the available floor plans of MinSU main campus buildings to be used in

making the perspective views of those establishments
