KVNHS Improves Students’ Math Skills Through Project GETS-

Ka

Project GETS-Ka by KVNHS helped over 653 high school students with prior
mathematics skills according to the latest data for the academic year 2022-2023.

The KVNHS's Project GETS-Ka has been proven effective in improving the
numeracy proficiency of high school students. The project aims to sustain this
initiative to help students master their mathematical skills and reduce difficulties
in transitioning to the next grade level.

‘’Through this project, the students' numeracy skills focusing on the fundamental
operations will be enhanced and mastered,’’ said Ms. Rose Marie Espina Devera,
Project GETS-Ka Coordinator.

In the current school year, Project GETS-Ka successfully improved the

fundamental math skills of students in grades 7-10. Moreover 653 out of 1,766
students were able to attend and complete the project, but those whom did finish
have shown significant improvements during their math classes.

In interviews with some students, some said the project enhanced their numeracy
skills, while others found it challenging but still helpful and meaningful.

‘’Since the project, GETS-Ka targets the lagging behind students and helps them in
resolving their learning gaps, I think this project will help in producing more
competitive and confident graduates from our school,’’ she added.
As of now, Project GETS-Ka will stick to giving tutorials and remediation for high
school students since they just got back into the face-to-face scheme. On the
other hand, they are open to providing additional programs or revisions of the
plan if needed and necessary.
