For production scanning, gain shall be > 6 dB over the primary reference level. For prove-up acceptance, the gain increase is not applicable. Prove-up of suspect areas should never be performed with only a lower degree transducer than that used to identify the imperfection. For example, ifthe imperfection was found with a 60° transducer, then a transducer of 60° or 70° shall be used to prove-up the Imperfection. In this example, a 45° transducer, by itself, shall not be Used to prove-up the suspect area. There shall be no linear indications greater than 3mm in length. This inspection shall be after hydrostatic testing.
