Valedictory Address

“There’s no any kind of disaster that could stop a person from succeeding”
To our hardworking and dedicated school head, Mrs. Herlyn Senarillos, brilliant and
passionate teachers, proud parents, online viewers, and fellow graduates, a pleasant morning
to all of us.
Who would have thought that we can make it till the very end? Learning in this new
normal education has been a rollercoaster ride. In the beginning, we feel nervous for we don’t
know the different challenges ahead, however as we go along the ride, we learn to adjust and
enjoy the moment. Just like this school year, at first, it felt vague whether all of us will graduate
but the fact that we are here today manifests our strong will to carry on. This event tells us that
despite the Pandemic, education still continues to exist since a protective shield was innovated
which are the different learning modalities. Now, a fruitful school year is about to end.
As a simple girl, the only goal that is set to my mind is to finish schooling so I could help
my family in the future. I always think that if I study hard, I can achieve my dreams and gain
recognition. From the moment I had my first step in this school, I had imagined myself receiving
diploma and delivering a valedictory address in the future. So, here I am today, turning my
imaginations into reality. However, the process of gaining this award was not easy. Before the
Pandemic, I had to walk few miles going to the school which became an everyday routine for
five years. Further, I have to manage my time in doing household chores and studying the
lessons. The struggle became worse during the COVID-19 breakout since face-to-face classes is
prohibited. It was hard reading and understanding the modules in the absence a person
explaining it.
Nevertheless, I’m always thankful for the undying support given by my parents
financially, mentally and emotionally that had contributed to my success especially in this new
normal education. They represent all the proud parents today who sacrificed going to school
twice a week to receive and retrieve the modules and provide financial support for data
connection. I also salute all the teachers in Silangit National High School headed by Mrs. Herlyn
Senarillos for religiously doing their tasks as agents in providing quality education in new
normal. Above all else, I’m very thankful to God for His guidance throughout this school year.
To my fellow graduates, I know that all of us share the same feelings today. The feelings
of joy, success and fulfillment that finally another chapter of our lives has come to an end. But
always remember that when a door closes another one will open. In our next journey, may we
always bring the important lessons that we learned in this institution and make it our weapon
in surviving the upcoming stages of our lives.
Thank you and stay safe!
