Bit – 2 Summaries of the Poems. [1x6=6]

‫ا َْﻟَﺣْﻣُد‬
(ALL PRAISE)
In this HAMD the poet described the stature and great position of Allah (SWT) in a very beautiful
way.

The poet says Allah’s (SWT) glory and stature is very high and sublime. Allah (SWT) has eternal
qualities which are known as Asmaaul Husna (beautiful names). He is Ar-Rahman (the most

beneficent), Ar-Raheem (the most merciful). He is Al-Aleem (the All-knowing) and Al- Baseer (All-
seeing) we must call upon Allah’s beautiful names during our supplications.

The poet says Allah (SWT) is the Lord of the heavens, the earth and flowing water (rivers). Allah
(SWT) says in the Holy Qur’an “it is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth and sent down

rain from the sky …….(An-nml) and the poet says rivers flow by His commands only because He
has created them.

In the other verses of the HAMD, the poet says, Allah (SWT) is All- knowing and All- seeing. He
can see everything whether it is in the day or night, big or small and in darkness and light. He is

the Knower of visible and invisible, He can even see a small ant and it’s crawling.

Further, the poet says, Allah (SWT) has power over all things. He is forgiver of all our sins except
major ones. He is very kind and most merciful, He shows mercy to whom He wants abundantly.
He has the grasp on every creature i.e. every creature is under His power and His authority. He is

the best Judge, the most Just, who doesn’t do any injustice in His ruling, no benefit or harm occurs
except but His permission.

In conclusion, the poet advises the readers to fear Allah (SWT) at all times, especially when we

are alone. We can hide from people, but we can’t hide anything from Allah (SWT), the Al-Baseer,
the All- Seeing. The Holy Qur’an says “And whosoever obeys Allah (SWT) and His Messenger
(SAW), fears Allah (SWT), and keeps his duty (to Him), such are the successful ones.

This is the summary of the HAMD “Al-Hamdu.”.

The poem ‫( أﺣب‬I love) speaks about the likes and dislikes of the unknown poet. This poem also
teaches us to whom we should love and to what we should like.

In the first verse of this poem, the poet expresses his love towards the creator of the universe,
Allah (SWT). He says, he loves Allah (SWT) and His Prophet (PBUH), because a true Muslim is
he who loves Allah (SWT) and His Prophet (PBUH) more than his parents, children and all other

because knowledge is very important for man because a man without knowledge is like a beast.”
The poet says, “I like hard work, and I dislike laziness because, without hard work, we cannot
achieve our goals.”

In the third verse, the poet says, I like truthfulness in my words, because the Prophet (PBUH) said
truthfulness leads towards the righteousness and the righteousness leads towards heaven.

and there is nothing more pleasurable or exotic. The poet means to say, that his words are sweet
to the soul and healthy for the body they cheer others up and make them feel strong.

work which is free from slow-moving and laziness.”

‫ب ﻧَِﺑْﯾٌل‬
‫ﺷﺎ ﱞ‬

(A N O B L E Y O U N G MA N )
This poem is composed by an anonymous poet who is co-incidentally a good student. He tells us
some of his good qualities through his verses.

In this poem, the poet expresses himself as an honest and faithful young man who has a noble
character and religiousness.

Further, the poet says, “I try to get a high position and rank with courage and struggle” because
the essential quality of a good student is hard work. We cannot achieve good results in schools
and colleges without training and effort.

The poet compares the knowledge to a plant. He says the knowledge is just like a plant. Which
grows well and becomes fruitful if we water it at proper times, and take good care of it. Hence, the
poet says that he goes daily in the morning to learn his lessons.

Similarly, the poet says, he respects his teacher and has great regard for him as he is the person
who teaches him and brings him up and refines his character. The poet says that he listens to his
teacher whenever he explains the lesson and he pays good attention to his lecture.

Further, the poet expresses his deep love and affection for his father. He says he loves his father
very much. His father takes good care of him and fulfils all his needs. The poet prays to Allah
(SWT) for his father’s health and wellbeing. Similarly, the poet describes some of his good
qualities such as honesty, good manners, keeping the company of noble people and not disclosing
the secrets. The poet says, he doesn’t disclose the secrets and defects of anyone because if we
hide other’s secret then Allah (SWT) will hide our secrets and defects as well. The poet says he
always keep the company of noble people because a man is known by the company he keeps.

In the conclusion the poet tells about the favors and kindness of his parents, he says all the good
qualities that are mentioned above are because of his parents’ favors to him as they brought him
up in a good and well-cultured atmosphere, provided him good education, made him a complete
person and helped him in achieving good status.

This poem is composed by a Hyderabadi poet, Mr. Syed Nabi, who was a famous Arabic poet and
writer. He wrote many books in Arabic for Arabic learning students and composed many poems for
children and students. The given poem is among his best poems in Arabic.

In this poem, the poet advises and encourages the students to educational awakening and hard
work in seeking knowledge so that they become successful in their lives.

The poet says to the students, make a firm and strong resolution for achieving dignity and glory
because dignity and glory require firm will and stability. The poet says, seek the knowledge with
struggle and hard work because it is an ornament for the man and with it, only the excellence and
awareness can be obtained.

The poet advises the students to seek the respect and honor with unity and friendship because the
respect and honor of the nation lie in unity and harmony and one must know that the breakup and
splitting is a symbol of vanishing for the nation.

The poet advises the students to keep themselves always away from lies and he stressed them to
follow and stick always to the truth. The poet asks the students to adhere the service of the nation
and country because it is a good and noble deed.

‫ﺟﺎري‬
(MY N E I G H B O U R)
This poem is composed by the poet Saeed badavi. In this poem, the poet speaks about the good
qualities and features of his beloved neighbor.

The poet says he loves his neighbor very much as he stays next to his house and stands beside
him always and extends all possible help to him.

The poet says they both stay together in love at home and playgrounds, they help each other in
the hour of need and share joys and sorrows.

The poet says they (neighbors) are lucky ones as they stay together as brothers and make life
much more joyous and pleasant.

Islam has great respect for the mutual rights and duties of neighbors. The Holy Qur’an says “And
be good to the neighbor who is your relative and to the neighbor who is not a relative” (surah Nisa
36)

Our Prophet (PBUH) always treated his neighbors with extreme kindness and consideration. He
used to say that the angel Hazrat Jibreel (AS) had emphasized consideration towards one’s
neighbors so often that sometimes I began to think that a neighbor would perhaps be included
among the prescribed heirs.

In another Hadith Abdullah bin Amr (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah’s peace
and blessings be upon him) said: “The best of companion in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, is the
best of them to his companion, and the best of neighbors in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, is the
best of them to his neighbor.”

This is the summary of the poem “My neighbour.”

Bit – 3 Summaries of Surahs and Lessons. [1x6=6]

(‫ﺳْوَرةُ ﻗَُرْﯾٍش‬
ُ )
This surah was revealed in Makkah. It has four verses and one section. This surah takes its name
from the word Quraish present in the first verse. It is the 106th surah of the Holy Qur’an.

Surah Al-Fil describes how Allah (SWT) saved the Ka’aba from destruction, when Abraha came to
Makkah to demolish it, while Surah Quraish describes the favours of Allah (SWT) on the people of

Quraish.

In this surah Allah (SWT) reminds the people of Quraish of the many blessings, favours and times
of ease they experienced because of His grace upon them. Among these blessings is the fact that
Allah (SWT) allowed their caravans to travel safely, each year in winter and summer. Allah (SWT)

gave the Makkans a “passport” through the desert. They were free to go without harm, as people
and robbers wouldn’t harm them as they were the custodian of Ka’aba. He also fed them and kept

them safe from fear.

Many of the tribes of Makkah were not favored in such a way as were the Quraish. The travelling

tribes roamed the desert in search of the food that Allah (SWT) provided with relative ease to the

Quraish. The Quraish were also very prosperous in their business transactions while other tribes

were known for their thievery and desperation for livelihood.

After being reminded of the blessings, which He has bestowed on them, they are commanded to

worship the Lord of the House (of which they were the custodian).

This is the summary of “suratu-Quraish.”

ُ ‫ﺳْوَرةُ اْﻟَﻣﺎ‬
(‫ﻋْوِن‬ ُ )
This surah was revealed at Makkah. It has seven verses and one section. This is the 107th surah
of the Holy Qur’an. This surah takes its name from the word “Ma’un” present in the last verse.

The starting three verses were revealed about one of the following people: Aas bin Wa’il, Waleed

bin Mughira and Abu Jahl because they didn’t believe in the occurrence of the Day of Judgement.
They didn’t show mercy to orphans. They were abusive to them. They used to take their land and
money unjustly.

The last four verses were revealed about the hypocrites of Madina Munawwara who apparently

were Muslims but, they didn’t help neighbours and those in need on common items, and they
didn’t offer a prayer from the heart and on time. They used to offer prayer to show others, not for

the sake of Allah (SWT).

Surah Al-Ma’un ends by saying that as a Muslim, it is our responsibility to take care of orphaned

children, regardless of their faith and religion, to help those in need and our neighbours on
common items, regardless of their beliefs. If they need food, we should give them and encourage

other people to do same, and we should offer a prayer from the heart and on time and not for the

sake to show others because if we do, Allah (SWT) will not accept our prayer and this will not be

good for us on the Day of Judgment.

This is the summary of Suratul ma’un.

ِ َ‫ﺳْوَرةُ اْﻟﻔَﻠ‬
(‫ﻖ‬ ُ )
This surah was revealed at Madina Munawwara. It has five verses and one section. This is the
113th surah of the Holy Qura’n. This sura takes its name from the word “Al-Falaq” present in the

first verse.

This surah is one of the last two chapters of the Holy Qur’n called al- mu’awwizatain, as these start
with the word a’uzu, which means I seek refuge.

In this surah a warning is given to all the men and women to seek refuge in Allah (SWT) from evil

of the dark night because it is the time of coming out of evil spirits Jins and wild animals. As well

as they must seek refuge with Allah (SWT) from the evils of witches women.

Finally, this surah also tells us that those who are sincere worshippers of Allah (SWT) must be
careful of the envious people, who are the worst of people.

This is the summary of Suratul Falaq.

(‫ﺳْوَرةُ اﻟﻧﱠﺎِس‬
ُ )
This surah was revealed at Madina Munawwara. It has six verses and one section. This is the

114th surah of the Holy Qur’an. This sura takes its name from the word “An-Naas” occurred in the
five verses of this surah.

An-Naas means “the people”. Suratun Naas teaches us to place our trust in Allah (SWT). It
teaches us to seek Allah’s (SWT) protection against things that might affect us. We should not

place our trust in man. Allah (SWT) is our Ruler and Supreme king.

This Surah warns us against the secret whispers of evil inside our hearts. It also warns us about

the evil that may come from other men or invisible spirits. As long as we put ourselves in Allah’s
(SWT) protection and we trust in Allah (SWT), evil will not be able to affect us.

In Hadith-Shareef it is mentioned that whenever the prophet (PBUH) go to bed, he used to cup his

hands together and blow over it after reciting Suratul Ikhlas, Suratul Falaq and Suratun Naas, and

(14)

then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body he was able to rub, starting with his head, face

and front portion of his body. He used to do that three times.

‫َﻣَظﺎِھُر اْﻟﻌَﺎﻟَِم‬
(MA N I F E S T A T I O N S O F T H E W O RL D)

In this lesson the boons and benefactions of Allah (SWT) have been described by the teacher to
the students.

The teacher entered the classroom and the students stood up and said ‫اﻟﺳﻼم ﻋﻠﯾﻛم و رﺣﻣﺔ ﷲ و ﺑرﻛﺎﺗﮫ‬
the teacher responded by saying ‫و ﻋﻠﯾﻛم اﻟﺳﻼم و رﺣﻣﺔ ﷲ و ﺑرﻛﺎﺗﮫ‬. Then he said: “children, sit down with
respect and reverence and listen from me the lesson with interest and activeness.

Today we will read a new lesson on the topic of the world’s manifestations.

The teacher began to read the lesson.

Dear students: Do you know who created the world? And from which thing? Listen from me,
indeed Allah (SWT), created it from the dust, air, water and fire. Look at the sky, how Allah (SWT)
created it and lifted it without pillars you can see it and He has made the sun, the moon and the
stars a shining light and He has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to
remember

Or desires gratitude. And then He has made the night for rest, and He has made the day for
livelihood, and during the day you work and you sleep in the night for rest and peace.

O! Children, look at the earth, how Allah (SWT) created it and made it a resting place upon which
your houses are there in which you stay and there are different gardens of fruits. And look at the
great mountains and the deep sea how Allah (SWT) created them, and from His abiltiy that water
descends from the sky and the trees grow from it and the beautiful flowers and useful fruits come
out of it. O! Children, you eat fruits and rejoice with the flowers.

(15)
M. O KHAN

Advising the students the teacher said, O! Children, rember the benefaction of Allah (SWT) upon
you, and be thankful to Him, He is your Lord and the lord of your forefathers, and the lord of all
things, don’t you be thankful, you should be thankful to your God for His blessings and
benefactions.

Allah (SWT) says “And if you (try) to count the blessings of Allah, you cannot count them” He also
says “If you thank, surely, I will increase you in (blessings), and if you are neglectful, then indeed
My punisment is surely severe.

This lesson tells us about the future goals of the students which were expressed by them when the
teacher asked them in the class.

The teacher entered the classroom and the students stood to honor him. The teacher said to the
students: “sit down and he talked to the students one by one.” O! Students, you are now entering
the final year of your studies. I want to know about your future goal. What do you prefer in your
life?

The teacher said each one is free in his answer. Then Ahmad said, “I want to become a train
driver, I always ride and travel for free.”

Rayyan said: The driver of the train is far away from home and during travelling, he has to face
great hardship, I like to become a captain in a steamer, I will travel in the sea and visit the
countries far away for free and I will see the wonders of the world.

Fatima said: The captain and his steamer are in danger of drowning, but I would like to become a
doctor and I will serve the people especially the poor.

Rayyan said in reply to Fatime’s statement, “it is not true that the steamer is in danger at this time,
steamers travel in these days with security and safety. On the contrary, I see doctors getting sick
and dying.

(16)
M. O KHAN

Fatima said: didn’t you hear that a steamer sank two days ago. Rayyan wanted to answer her, but
the teacher said it is not the time for the debate and disputation many students are remaining.

The teacher asked Abrar, what do you say O! Abrar? He said “I don’t want to become a driver or a
captain or a doctor”, but I would like to become a farmer, I will plant and plough because
agriculture is important and without it life becomes difficult.

Salman said, “I would like to become a trader, I would have a big shop in a big market, people will
come to me and buy goods.

Farhan said: “I like to become a skilful craftsman,” I will make wonderful things for the general
public.

Fahad said, “I want to become a strong soldier, I will fight the enemies of the country and I will
strive for its safety and security”.

Danish said, “ I want to become a very rich man, I will wear what I like and eat what I desire, I will
travel to where I want, I will have a lot of money and live in a big palace”, then all the boys laughed
at Danish’s words and he was ashamed.

The teacher said: “well done, O! My children, I pray for your success and good fortune, but be
Muslims and seek the religiousness in your work and serve the nation with your knowledge.

The students said: what do you say, O! Sir about Danish and his palace? The teacher said: the
money is a blessing from Allah (SWT). It is compulsory to be thankful for that. And he is very
happy and lucky whom Allah (SWT) has given him money and he spends it secretly and openly,
and he wants Allah’s pleasure with it and serve Islam.

It is mentioned in Hadith, The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Do not wish to be like anyone except in two
cases. (The first is) A person, whom Allah (SWT) has given wealth and he spends it righteously;

(The second is) the one whom Allah (SWT) has given wisdom (The Holy Qur’an) and he acts
according to it and teaches it to others.”

Our leaders Osman bin Affan (RA) and Abdur Rahman bin Auf (RA) were rich and then Danish
raised his head and said; “I will strive to serve Islam with my money and seek Allah’s (SWT)
pleasure.”

This lesson speaks about the women’s status in pre-islamis period and in Islamic period. The
women prior to the advent of Islam had no recognized place in Arab society.

The pre-Islamic era was an oppressive age for the soft gender (woman). The Arabs used to bury
their daughters alive and they were proud of this horrible act and the reasons that incited them to

bury their daughters alive, are:

 Poverty and indigence.

 Fanaticism of Pre – Islamic times.

 Shame in marriage kinship.

 Preference of boys over girls.
 Non – co –operation of girls in wars.

Here is the story of the girl who was thrown into a well alive:

A man from the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) used to attend the gathering of the Prophet

(PBUH) and he used to be sad always then our Prophet (PBUH) asked him once: what happened
to you, why are you sad?

The man said: I sinned in Pre-Islamic times, so I fear that Allah (SWT) will not forgive it, even
though I converted to Islam.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: tell me about your sin.

The man said: O! messenger of Allah (SWT), I was one of those who killed their daughters, and in

that period a girl was born to me and then my wife told me, not kill her and I left her until she grew

up.

And once I said to my wife: I want to go to so and so tribe to visit my relatives so send her with me,
then my wife became happy and dressed her in beautiful clothes and took a promise that I will not

deceive her.

(18)
M. O KHAN

So we walked into the desert until we reached a well and I left my daughter there and I went to the

wellhead and looked at the well, then my daughter understood that I want to throw her into the well

so she stuck with me and started crying and said: O! My father what do you want to do with me?
Then I showed mercy to her and I looked at the well and then the fanaticism entered upon me, and
once I looked at the well and once I looked at her and again I showed mercy to her until the devil

defeated me and I took her and threw her into the well and she was shouting into the well O! My
father O! My father………. Even her voice was cut off.

Listening the girl’s story the Prophet (PBUH) and his companions wept and the man showed great

regret for his act.

Dear brothers and sisters, Islam fought against these crimes and raise the status of the woman on
to the high place and brought her out from distress to happiness, from indigence to prosperity and

gave her stolen rights, and the Prophet (PBUH) said as a bearer of glad tidings to the people of

girls.

“He who is involved (in the responsibility) of (Bringing up) daughters and he is benevolent towards
them, they would become a protection for him against Hell-fire.”

And he (PBUH) said, “He, who brought up two girls properly till they grew up, he and I would come
(together) on the Day of judgement, and he (PBUH) interlaced his fingers (for explaining the point

of nearness him and that person).”

Further, our Prophet (PBUH) said, “Whoever has a female (child) and he does not bury her alive,
or insult her, or prefer his male child over her, Allah (SWT) will admit him into the paradise.”

The Prophet (PBUH) said to Suraqah bin Jushum: “should I tell you what is the greatest charity (or
said: one of the greatest charities)?” He said: kindly do tell, O! Messenger of Allah (SWT). The

Prophet (PBUH) said: “your daughter who (after being divorced or widowed) returns to you and

should have no other wage earner except you.”

‫ِﺧْدَﻣﺔُ اْﻟَواِﻟَدْﯾِن‬
(T h e S e rv i c e t o t h e P a re n t s )
This lesson speaks about the merits and excellences of parents.

The parents are great blessings for the children because they are the means for their appearance
in the world, and in their service is a great reward in this world and the Hereafter. Allah (SWT), the
Almighty commanded His slaves to show thanks to Him and their parents as He said to them: “Be
thankful to Me and to your Parents” (surah Luqman)

Dear brothers and sisters if our parents are pleased with us, then Allah (SWT) will be pleased with
us, and if the parents are displeased with us, then Allah (SWT) will be displeased with us.

As stated in the hadith, the prophet (PBUH) said: “The pleasure of God lies in the pleasure of the
parents, and the anger of the Lord lies in the anger of the parent.”

Many Ahadith are also mentioned in their greatness and love.

It is well known that the mother’s preference is more than that of the father as stated in the hadith

“Paradise is beneath the feet of mothers” and regarding the importance of father the Prophet
(PBUH) said, “The father is the middile door of Paradise.”

Here I would like to write a story of a man who was obedient to his parents:

There lived a shepherd who used to go to grazing yard along with his cattle and used to graze the
cattle till evening and returned at Isha time after returning he used to milk the cattle and give it to
his parents first, then to his small children and wife.

Once this man returned to his home late in the night. His parents were slept after waiting a long
time for him. The man became very sad and repented for his late arrival, He disliked waking his
parents. His wife and children were awakening, they started asking the man for milk as they were
very hungry but the man disliked to give milk to them before his parents. He milked the cattle and
stood till Fajr near his parents along with the mug of milk when his parents woke up he gave them

Milk and then to his children and his wife and he also drank some milk.

Allah (SWT) was pleased with this noble man and accepted his noble deed.

(20)
M. O KHAN

Once this noble man stayed in a cave for spending the night as soon as he entered the cave a
rock came down and shut the entrance of the cave and there was no way for coming out of the
cave then he prayed to Allah (SWT) referring his noble deed he said, “ O! Allah (SWT) if I did that
act of devotion with my parents to please you then remove this rock from here, then Allah (SWT)
accepted his prayer and helped him by removing the rock from the entrance. And this was the
reward of the service of the parents.

So, through this lesson, we can understand the importance of the act of devotion to parents and
we have to obey our parents and respect them and love them wholeheartedly so that Allah(SWT)
keep us happy in this world and hereafter.
