Professionalism, experience and
technology for new ways to
achieve efficiency

Availability of the services described in this catalogue in different

geographical regions will be agreed on with the reference CAREL subsidiary.
Better Control, Better Environment
The claim “Better Control, Better Environment” is intended to state just how
closely connected these two concepts are for us: optimisation of our solutions
translates into an increase in energy efficiency. CAREL’s control systems and the
innovations that support them are in fact designed to support the HVAC/R industry
with solutions that increasingly enable reductions in energy consumption,
environmental impact and operating costs for our customers and end users.
Continuous improvement is our modus operandi, the method that allows us to
create a standard without being constrained by it and then gradually succeeding
in surpassing it and defining an even higher-level standard.
Research, innovation and technology are the keys to our success: for more than
forty years, the customer’s needs have been at the centre of the elements we
develop to ensure functional and aesthetic differentiation.
Our Group’s strength lies in the integration between the different areas; our
overall vision, experience and transversal competencies mean we can go beyond
the boundaries of individual products and represent a single partner that can
identify integrated application solutions.

Humidifier ordinary maintenance

CAREL offers an annual maintenance plan that guarantees customers the best humidifier operating
conditions.

Guaranteed intervention within 48 hours of notification should special maintenance be required; the original spare parts and the know-
how of the CAREL service network are the main advantages offered by this service plan.
In standard conditions of use for 8-10 h per day, the number of visits per year depends on feedwater hardness, as shown in the table
below:

Water hardness Number of visits/year

Demineralised water 0 °f 1
Water 10-25 °f 2
Water 25-40 °f 3

If the humidifier is used more than a standard schedule, we recommend scheduling more maintenance visits.

Services included
The activities carried out during each maintenance visit, where applicable to the specific model of unit, include:

• Cylinder cleaning and maintenance; • Check circulation in the water circuit;

• Check and clean the fill solenoid valve; • Check power supply voltage and current;
• Check and clean the drain pump; • Check tightness of electrical connections;
• Check the steam hose; • Check valve operation and tightness;
• Check and clean the fill tank; • Check probe calibration;
• Check the feedwater filter; • Check water parameters;
• Clean the boiler and the heat exchanger; • Check microprocessor and verify calibration and parameters;
• Check the burner; • Surface and general cleaning;
• Check and clean nozzles and drain valves; • Replacement of spare parts subject to wear due to normal
• Check min/max operating pressures; product use.
• Check correct operation of the units in the system;

Humidifier warranty extension

The warranty covers the free repair and/or replacement of the unit’s components in accordance with the
“Terms and conditions of sale” available on the website www.carel.com.

In order to benefit of warranty validity, the commissioning of the humidifier must be carried out correctly and the unit must be submitted
to periodically maintenance according to the instructions in the machine documentation; CAREL offers the option of purchasing these
services, both for commissioning and maintenance, thus ensuring the applicability of the warranty.

The amount of the warranty extension is to be calculated as 2% of the list price of the machine for each year of extension requested.
Carel reserves the right to apply a minimum price. The warranty extension may not exceed 5 years from the unit production date, and
may be requested even after the expiry of the humidifier warranty. For units that have already been installed and are not covered by
an active maintenance contract with CAREL, an inspection is required to check the unit conditions (quoted in accordance with the
Extraordinary Maintenance table) before service is activated.

Digital services
CAREL’s digital services are focused on reducing
maintenance costs, optimising energy consumption
and improving the performance of both individual
units and complex systems. By integrating many years
of thermodynamic expertise with IoT technologies,
CAREL makes remote management of systems simple,
safe and effective. Our extensive digital portfolio
includes customisable apps for interacting with
units, cloud portals for remote control of systems
and in-depth data analysis tools (Analytics) using
AI technologies (machine learning algorithms) for
continuous improvement of units and systems.
Mobile apps

APPLICA and CONTROLLA are CAREL’s new apps for interacting with the latest generation of CAREL controllers
equipped with NFC or Bluetooth® technology.

APPLICA and CONTROLLA are the new apps developed by CAREL for interacting with the latest-generation CAREL controllers. APPLICA
and CONTROLLA have been developed using a unique approach: rather than different versions for each device, there is just one app
for all compatible CAREL devices. APPLICA has been developed to revolutionise and simplify the commissioning and maintenance of
HVAC/R units, CONTROLLA to provide end users with a simple and customised unit interface. Both apps are available for Android and iOS
devices and can be downloaded for free from the corresponding app stores.

Services included
APPLICA and CONTROLLA come with the following features: APPLICA comes with the following features:
• Unit-specific user interface; • Historical and real-time graphs;
• Write parameters/read variables; • Create and set configurations/cloning;
• Alarm management; • Automatically save configurations/cloning to the cloud;
• Profiled access with username and password; • Set device date/time;
• Local connection to compatible CAREL devices via NFC or • Firmware update (where featured via wireless);
Bluetooth protocols; • Unit documentation.
• Remote connection to compatible CAREL devices via the tERA
portal (CONTROLLA only).

Cloud portals

The offering of cloud-based storage services varies according to the application and connectivity architecture.

RED optimise can centralise all the information from individual boss and pCOWEB supervisors to provide global control of all connected
systems. Typically used in retail applications and for analysis of telecom/data centre applications, RED optimise provides complete control
of the system and statistical analysis for the management of all installations.

tERA is the digital platform for creating a centralised remote management system for both individual units and small HVAC/R systems. It
allows users to quickly and easily access all of the information needed to optimise the work of the technical and service team. The tERA
proposal comes complete with gateways featuring different site connectivity options that in just a few simple steps prepares the system
for all types of analysis.

DigitalHUM is the new plug&play digital service for the remote management of CAREL and HygroMatik humidifiers. It allows easy access
to the supervision of the units with views dedicated to user profiles, and supports on-site maintenance services, optimising planning and
improving maintenance schedules and results.

Services included
Cloud portal management includes:
• IT infrastructure;
• Monitoring available 24/7;
• Control procedures for data security;
• GDPR conformity.

System performance optimisation services

The information collected through the Industry 4.0 digital service platforms can be used to analyse the
installed systems and identify the most critical ones.

CAREL Service exploits its international experience to verify system performance and areas for improvement and provide optimisation
suggestions to achieve maximum system efficiency.

1. Retail system control performance analysis

Optimised and stable temperature control brings countless benefits in the food
retail market. It improves the quality and shelf life of food, increases system efficiency
and reduces the causes of malfunctions and the activation of alarms. This obviously
translates into better use of energy by minimising waste. To obtain these advantages,
CAREL offers a system analysis service divided into three steps: analysis of current system
status, identification of corrective actions, implementation and monitoring of optimised
performance.

Services included
CAREL’s experts, based on the data acquired via the digital portal, will carry out the following analyses:

Step 1: Step 2: Step 3:
