GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

Name of Project : Proposed Coffee Shop

Location : Quirino, Bacnotan, La Union

I. GENERAL CLAUSE: The drawings and specifications are intended to cooperate. Anything shown
in the drawing but not mentioned in the specifications or vice-versa, or anything not expressly and
clearly set forth in either which is reasonably implied shall be furnished as though specially shown
and mentioned in both.

II. CLEARING AND STAKING:


 The site shall be cleared away of all dirt or rubbish earth premises.
 The building shall be staked out properly and batter boards shall be secured in such a
way that it will not be disturbed during the excavations of the foundations. Grade
lines shall be established accurately.

III. EXCAVATION AND BACKFILLING:


Excavation for all footings and foundations shall be done in accordance with the bearing
capacity of the soil. All loose materials shall be removed from the bottom of the foundation beds
before setting up the footings and no footing or foundation shall be placed or rest on fill. All
backfilling materials shall be set on the layer not exceeding 0.15 meters (6 inches) thickness, each
layer being thoroughly compacted by wetting, tamping, or rolling.

IV. CONCRETE AND MASONRY:


 Cement
Portland cement of approved quality shall be used.
 Fine Aggregates
Fine aggregates shall be clean and hard, natural sand.
 Coarse Aggregates
Coarse aggregates shall be hard, durable, uncoated gravel or crushed stone.
 Water
Water shall be clean, fresh, and potable.

a.) QUALITY AND PROPORTIONING OF CONCRETE:


The quality and proportioning of concrete shall be as follows as per DPWH Standard.
CLASS “A” (1:2:4) Concrete mixtures for all footings, foundations,
Columns, and beams.
CLASS “B” (1:2 ½:5) Mixture of concrete slabs on grade
(1:2 ½) Mixture of all plastering
(1:3:4) Mixture for CHB laying and filling

Note: Excess of water seriously reduce the strength of concrete, therefore, the mixture shall only be
made as dry as concrete shall be only wet enough to spread and work into place

b.) METAL REINFORCEMENT:


 Metal reinforcement shall be free from mill rust and of coating of any character that
will tend to reduce the strength of the steel.
 Reinforcing bars directly in contact against the ground shall be protected with at least
3” concrete covering.

c.) HOLLOW BLOCKS:


4” X 8” X 16” CHB shall be used for all walls.
Note: In the event that any deviation in the plans and the specifications occur, shall be put into a
written agreement between parties and to be approved before the work starts.

IV. Timber Works


All materials shall be in good condition and termite killer must apply before the installation
to lengthen the strength of the timber.
