2.0 INSPECTION RESULTS

All the 182 tubes present in the unit # 1E-E1426 were inspected.

1. Severe localized wall thinning/pitting corrosion was observed in most of the tubes inspected
especially on the top rows of the unit resulting in >60% wall loss. The wall thinning was
predominantly observed between the far end side tube sheet (far end of inspection) and the
first baffle from the far end. RFET cannot distinguish between the ID & OD side defects.

2. Some tubes had scale/deposits hampering the probe movement and hence the signal quality,
but the analysis has been done with the best of our abilities under such scenarios.

3. RFET is insensitive in picking up the small diameter pits (≤4.5mm) and defects under the
baffle plates, only large areas of corrosion (if present) can be detected.

4. The summary of findings of the tubes inspected is presented in Table 1, followed by a

pictorial representation of the tube sheet diagram.
