School of Law
From Here to the World
SCHOOL OF LAW
The School of Law (SOL) offers five-year integrated programmes of B.A. LL.B (Hons.) and B.B.A.
LL.B (Hons.); a three-year LL.B. (Hons.) programme; and a PhD programme. Our undergraduate
programmes equip students with future-oriented skills expected of a quality, internationally
competent lawyer. Our programmes encourage curiosity about the law, build confidence to ask
critical questions, and equip students to navigate the social and technological complexities of our
times. The programmes lay emphasis on legal writing, analysis, advocacy, interdisciplinary
approaches, legally relevant technological competence, and social service through legal aid clinics.
We aim to cultivate scientifically minded, constitutionally rooted, and internationally oriented
lawyers.

Courses at SOL are taught collaboratively by academics and practitioners. Experiential learning is
fostered through case-based discussions, learning through live cases, and peer learning. Fifty
percent of the time at School of Law (SOL) is spent on experiential learning where students learn by
doing, and nurture the spirit of critical inquiry and innovation.

INTERDISCIPLINARITY: LAW, TECHNOLOGY, SCIENCE,
MANAGEMENT AND THE ARTS
SOL is situated in a truly interdisciplinary context with a School of Management (SOM) and the School of Engineering and
Technology (SOET). BMU promotes dialogue between different streams of knowledge. Expert faculty from SOM and SOET
regularly engage with students at SOL through lectures and open events. We are introducing courses and modules on
cutting edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and coding to law students. These courses are delivered by leading
experts from SOET.

The law programmes offer electives in a range of areas including Cyber Laws, Data Privacy, Technology and Human Rights,
Environmental Law, White Collar Crimes; Indirect Taxation; International Trade and Investment Law; Gender Justice and
Feminist Jurisprudence; Human Rights Law and Practice; Patent Drafting and Specification Writing; Intellectual Property
Law; Media & Law; International Environmental Law; Law, Technology, and Innovation; and Constitutional Values.

TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING THROUGH

PERSONALIZED EDUCATION
SOL has a Faculty-Students Ratio of 1:7. We are committed to small batch sizes. This translates into greater personalized
attention that enhances quality learning.

Our Personalized Education Programme identifies talents and potential of each individual student to design a tailored path
for academics growth and career-based training. In the initial years we work on foundational skills such as writing,
comprehension, critical thinking, and public speaking. Later years focus on career guidance. This helps students to
continuously improve themselves and evolve into well rounded legal professionals with wide career options.

DEDICATED INFRASTRUCTURE FOR LAW STUDENTS

MOOT COURT HALL
BMU has a state-of-the-art moot court hall inspired by international courts for simulation of courtroom activities within
the university. It provides an architectural space essential for students to be ready and confident to grapple with post
law-school challenges. Moot courts contribute towards achieving this goal. BMU moot court teams have been
extraordinarily successful, and we hope to continue that trend.

STATE-OF-THE-ART LIBRARY
BMU hosts an enriching collection of books and experiential learning materials. The law must be understood contextually,
and so we lay special emphasis on procuring books from different disciplines along with the best legal texts. The library
hosts over one thousand one hundred and fourteen titles specific to law. To promote cutting-edge research, BMU provides
access to numerous online materials including Lexis Nexis, Manupatra, AIR Online, SCC online and makes them available
in a user-friendly way.

INSTITUTE OF INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP

BMU has established the Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I2E) to facilitate innovation and
entrepreneurship at the University. Students are provided support and mentorship through
developing and nurturing their ideas to giving them final form through start-ups. Support includes
guidance on incorporating a company, validating a business model, formulating a go-to-market
strategy, and building a core team.
